proper way to adjust clutch pedal?

proper way to adjust clutch pedal?
I have a 00 em1 that I just put a clutch in. The clutch is great but it wont go in gear unless the pedal is about an inch off the floor. How do I properly fix this?

you can adjust the clutch by turning the plunger/rod that attaches ot the pedal.
go under the dash.
find the clutch
find the rod attached to the pedal
loosen lock nut
turn the rod (not sure which direction raises/lowers engagement mabey someone else will chime in with that answer,or just test it and find out)
tighten lock nut
test.
