stock ITR, how much HP dyno at the wheels
thats weird, i didn't know that the newer R's had better cams?
anyway, 160 to 168hp at the wheels isn't that great now that i think of it, why soo much of a power loss boggles my mind
I just got a 2002 jetta 1.8T and it dynoed 166hp!!! and its only 180hp crank, what the hell is going on! I never dynoed my 98 ITR though.

actually
i just called 2 acura dealers, and they just told me that they are all the same cams, and that they have the same part numbers for 98's and 00/01's
r u sure the cams are different?

It also depends on the Dyno...Mustang Dynos give lower results, but are more consistent (since they're actual brake dynos), while the majority of dynojets are accelerometer dynos, basically giant G-Tech Pros. Dynojets tend to give you different numbers between runs....significantly different, which makes tuning less accurate. On a mustang dyno, most stock Rs in this area have been in the 153-156 range. Like George said, a dyno is really only effective as a tuning device during a single session. A guy who hit high 170s on a dynojet on the back of a truck somewhere (on his 4th run, haivng gone from high 160s without doing ANYTHING) came to a mustang dyno in the area an hit 153 consistantly a few days later.
well, i was just curious about the dyno runs cause i could never understand why the ITR had such low dyno numbers, and these VW dudes are always flaming the ITR, and i was defending my ex-car... so don't pull a beef, i didn't put into consideration the LSD on the dyno... so whatever...just asking...
as for my jetta, its just a jetta dude, i don't plan to bring it on the track, dragstrip or anything, not even chip it, exhaust, nothing, and actually, i love wasting VR6's with it, its pretty fast on the hwy (which is where i drive 95% of the time)
anyway, later

any VW owner can flame an R for low dyno numbers but what does that prove? Take it ot a strip or track and see how many R owners beat a Vdub guy with more dyno'd hp . . .
how much HP does a stock ITR dyno at the wheels?
168.8hp / 114.1tq at the wheels, SAE
171.8hp / 117.0tq at the wheels, Actual
Stock block, basically all OEM parts with exception to the cam gears, intake and exhaust.
yeah i know, it doesn't prove anything, its all the drag strip times anyway..
anyway, i was pretty happy with my stock ITR times of 14.5 @ 97mph.. no complaints
however, do watch out for the 1.8T GTI, they are in ITR terriotry, people posting like 14.6's with it stock... and the thing is with a simple chip, they boost to like 225hp easy!
anyway, whatever, i am just happy that i can still waste VR6's in my 4 door! haha.. (but now there is a new 200hp VR6 and 6 speed, that is supposed to be pretty quick, haven't seen one yet at the drag strip)

Is Matt Gast on this board?
I remember I dyno'd his car and my car the same day. He has a GSR motor with bolt ons. He freaked out when he saw my 168whp to his 166whp.
We plotted them up against eachother, and he owned my *** til 7700rpm.
1.6 is just for kicks. 1.8 ownz.
