Default heater core>

Whats up i have a 94 Hatch with a Ls and i was changing all of my hose's 2 day and i ran into the 2 on the firewall which are the heatercore hose's . I kinked 1 of the little brass tube's that the hose goes on 2 . But i really didnt pay mind 2 it so after i install'd all the hose's i start the car to look for leaks the cars running for 10 min with no problem. I walk away for a sec i come back i notice that my cluster is a lil fogged up. So i shut the car offf run 2 my engine bay and tear the hose off 2 stop the steam from keep going to my car. After that i felt my carpet on my Drivers side and i feel that it is wet . I go on the other side of the car and its dry as all hell now after reading all the people with a heater core promblems say that the coolent leaks on the passengers side. As of right now im really lost and idk what 2 do or what 2 look for so if i can get any help it would help alot thanks. O yeh and the the whole carpet isnt wet its just this spot but the trunk/gas Latch

If you know you damaged the heater core, I'd say thats a pretty good indication of the problem.

Whenever you remove the rubber lines from a heater core, us a razor blade and slit/cut them off. Rubber lines are far cheaper and less labor intensive than a heater core.

Your next project: Pull the dashboard.

its not leaking from the two outlets behind the engine on the firewall, thats what i am understanding. Now what i would do before taking off ur dash is by pass those two outlets. all those are for is to send antifreeze through the heater core, its summer its warm u dont need heat right now, so by pass those. if u look at u will see what i mean since u just changed them take the one from the back and connect it to the oultet right above the tranny and under the dizzy. when connecting those it will bypass the entire heater core meaning no antifreeze is entering ur car. it should not leak! u could also just connect them back up and run the car and look to see why it is leaking on the driver side and not the passenger side where the core is located

that is wierd that its leaking on the driver side, like you said, mine's on the passenger. but i'm thinking maybe the tubing that leads into the 'core is bad. resulting in coolant actually spraying towards the drivers side, instead of just dripping straight down onto the passenger side. thats my guess......

if worse comes to worse, tearing your dash apart isn't that hard.

i just did mine a month ago (because of my heater core, ej1) and initially i thought it was hard, but it only took me 1 day; and i ended up with 10 screws not too bad..

gl with yours though!

You need a diagram?

It's (2) 5/8" heater hose lines. Hook them together. They cant go together backwards.

Disconnect the two lines, find a small piece of pipe about 3-4 inches long, and slide the lines onto it. It's a cheap fix when you're in a jam, but almost always results in fixing the heater core in sub-freezing conditions (i.e. when you need it again).

If you're rough while removing the line from the heater core, you can break the solders, they are very fragile is this is most likely why you are having a leak.

no no dont do that yeah it sounds nice and easy no offense... but do it right and the best way for no mistakes.... okay i am going to try and explain the best i can, u said u just changed the hoses right, (so where the two hoses connect on the inlet and outlet on the firewall for the antifreeze to go in and out of the heater core) disconnect those hoses(antifreeze as u probably know will spill/squirt everywhere), so where one hose leads from the firewall to the brass looking tubing behind the engine right under the intake manifold and the other goes from the firewall to the outlet under the distributor above the firewall facing towards the back of the engine u can easily see it if u remove the intake. so connect on hose from the brass tube to the outlet under the distributor it will be the same size as the other tubing get a tube with a right angle
