Default Hondata Intake Manifold Gasket! Problems!

Is there a procedure for installing these I should be aware of? I just installed one and it leaks air badly. I tightened all bolts, started it and it leaked. Tightened the bolts (which were then loose) and retightened. And again 2 more times. They just keep needing tightened. What is the deal? Thanks for the help.

Was there any of the old gasket still on there? Are you also leaking coolant?

You may need to get some extended IM bolt studs, or perhaps coat the nuts with some NON-Permanent locktite or some liquid gasket. Let said stuff dry before you start the motor BTW.

I vote extended studs if it keeps happening.

No coolant leaking! Just hear the air (even right after tightening)

I really don't think that is the problem - they are threaded on all the way plus 1/16''

Are you torquing them to spec?

What is the proper torque sequence and spec for the gasket?

How do you mean CRISS-CROSS?

--1----2----3----4
5----6----7----8----9

Each number being a nut. What order would you use?

you would obviously start on the bottom, it has more bolts. Always work in to out on stuff like this.

7-2-8-3-6-4-5-9-1

the exact order really isn't important though....

That makes the most sense.

Thats almost exactly what I was thinking!

As far as TQ specs - I have tried EVERYTHING and there is no way I can get a tq wrench in there to do this. Any recomendations?

Keep in mind this is an H22 in a 94 Teg and I have just installed a Euro R intake mani, which is why I decided to do this in the first place. (MOTOR IN CAR)

derek did you plug the air injection ports on the flange of that manifold?? it could be leaking through there and not the gasket itself.

They're the little holes above the inlet ports on the face of the IM flange. You can just about see them in this picture....

p.s - major thanks to Shawn for sending the adaptors and stuff to me in the UK

Rosko also sent me the adapter for the IACV I need. Whick is working great. Thanks!

I circled the spots that appear to be what your talking about in the picture. Can I plug them from the outside without removing the manifold?

Not sure if you can plug them from the outside, but either way I imagine it's going to be a hell of a lot easier to get them plugged with the IM off the car. (I know it's a bitch, but will save you time in the long run).
