Video from Midwest Honda Challenge rounds 1&2: Mid-Ohio April 21/22
I spliced the two videos together from the two days. With the full course cautions, it ended up being about 35 minutes total.

First race is Sunday, starts at 00:00
2nd race is Saturday, starts at 12:40
Sorry for the lousy editing. At least no one is going to criticize the music.
Sunday, I botched the start, but managed to get to turn 2 first. And then, I start to check out. A couple laps into it, the full course yellows bunch the field, and the Yellow H4 CRX driven by a Moser (Joey?) makes his way up to 2nd in the Honda-Challenge field right behind me during the messy restart! The 2nd restart was smoother for me, even though we restart 3/4 of a mile behind the green flag, because the miatas in front of us are spread out. Moser follows me again. Chase Lin takes 2nd, Kelsey takes 3rd, and Colin Botha fights hard through the field to get 4th in H1 (he's in a borrowed ITA CRX, and had to start at the back because he was instructing and didn't get to grid in time to start.)
I drove like a rusty monkey on Saturday. I spun out in qualifying on the 2nd lap (but still managed pole with my 1st lap), put 4 off during the race, and mis-shifted a few times. You can see Chase Lin in the Honda R&D Civic Si get around me a few times because of the mistakes. He ended up outside turn 11 in the sand, causing a full course caution, and Kelsey Smith ended up 2nd in his S2000, back by about 4 seconds.
I haven't driven a 5-speed tranny since October, and I haven't driven THIS car since September. It shows.
But I get the job done!
Thanks again to the Whip Factory for putting this monster together in time... I pulled everything coming out of turn 2 with the final drive, new diff, new 3rd gear, new motor. I don't know how this motor compares to last year's motor, they've never been on the same dyno, but the car is fast.

Whee! Yeah, I was trying 3rd gear in 10a/10b. It's too short, and it threw me off there, I put a wheel off on the outside at turn-in for 11, and went dorifto-offroad from there.

Wasn't that motor just rebuilt a little while back?
Did you keep the same setup? JUNs and H23 crank/rods?
What kind of power did it make?
New FD? 4.7?
Man, I should have bought that car.......
Please let me know if you ever sell it.....
WOW that thing is loud.....

The car sounds good. Do you have a 3" turn down under the car or something? I though my K20 was loud.. .

It's a 4.6 FD, JUN cams, and still an H22 crank. It has the Euro R gearing now. This is the first weekend with the new motor though. It dyno'ed 219 on a dynojet, uncorrected...

it's a little smaller than that, and there's a resonator, but yeah it's a turn down right behind the driver seat.
I wear earplugs.

Hmmm.....I thought it was an H22 block with h23 crank/rods. I guess I was wrong. I wonder why an H23 block was used instead.
Power makes sense though. 15whp more than me by way of the SMSP header and slightly higher compression.
OEM Honda Bottom end FTW!!!
I can only imagine what it sounds like inside. No sound deadening at all and a wide open exhaust.....My ears ring thinking about it.....I know what the JUNs sound like at 7000+++!
Basically like a 2200cc Motorcycle engine!

That car got some power!</TD></TR></TABLE>
I forgot how many good 15" tires I had, so I have not bought tires for the 17" wheels yet. I will use the Toyo bucks for that though!
It's my first H1 win.

There was a 4th gen running H4 (with an F series), Brad Smith. He was mid pack in H4, we never crossed paths on track.
There weren't any others, maybe you saw an old Nissan Sentra or something.

Hehe... yeah, whoops. I kinda felt like waving at the corner workers on the next lap... "Debris flag? Gee, I wonder what that was about..."
