I see your point of the post, but it kind of seems like you're LOOKING for someone to pick on to drag through the mud.

This guy might be a jerk for trying to buy stolen ****, and it might be lame as hell, yes, but cmon man, if you're going to bold the negatives, at least show that he did make an attempt (although it took him 7 times) to check if its legit.

Regardless of if he is dumb for not reading that you specifically said that you didnt have papers, he DID ask for them and for you to prove its "clean"

Did anyone catch the part about a USDM motor w/ scratched off VIN#? WTF? If the potential buyer was smart enough he should have smelled something fishy right there. But I guesh that's what he gets, fuggin moron', tryin' to get a cheap stolen ITR motor!

You're right, that does suck. I don't know if this guy was such a great example though...he could have been saying that to find out if its a hot motor, then meet up with a cop. Who knows, you know? He did ask for the proof that its clean, so he must have cared somewhat, regardless of what he said.

The whole second part is when he nailed his coffin shut IMO.

...first, i highly doubt a highschool kiddie who gets his cash for his car through parents would have the guts to steal a car.

...second, you do not frequent honda-tech so yes, you DID just come on for a stolen motor. (i.e. you have no idea what happened to me recently)

...third, i could have 2000 in my pocket tommorow but since im a dick i wont see it? obviously you do not even know what the market is for these motors as legit ones out there go for well over 4500 for complete swaps.

yes, i still have hopes your car will be stolen...maybe that will change your mind about buying stolen items once it has happened to you.

 

I see your point but realistically if this guy didnt buy this engine there is always someone out there who will. I know loads of guys that if the oppurtunity arose to buy a B18C5 engine for small money, they would jump at the chance, the way they figure it, if they dont buy it someone else will. Over here as long as chasis numbers match the original log book number then it doesnt make any difference what the egnine number is, so long as you tell the insurance company that you done an engine swap and for whatever reason. i personally wouldnt buy it, but there are loads out there that will, most wont ask where it came from, sort of like the ostrich burying its head in the sand..what they dont know wont hurt them. From a legal point of view what you were trying to show could be considered entrapment, if the guy PMd you looking for a hot engine it would have been different.

1)You offered a "Stolen Motor"
2)He jumped at the chance
3)You tried to finalize a deal
4)He asked if the motor was legit

7)You posted this, obviously trying to drag this guy through the mud in an indirectly vindictive way due to what happened to your car recently.

It's illegal to aptempt to buy stolen merchandice isn't it? If so, I have an idea.

Keep your motor, talk to your new cop friends, and work out a monthly or weekly sting.
Post a cheap ITR motor forsale. State that its not legit, and bust the kids when they come to pick it up.
