Replacing Head Gasket
Next week I am planning to replace my cylinder head Gasket, so head is coming off. What kind of additional work you guys do, while you are at it.
I never done this my self. how hard is this job?
Thanks.

its not really hard, its just basically taking everything off.
Basically everything that would be in the way of the head comming off needs to be removed, i would probably replace the intake manifold gasket, check the valves and everything
The main thing is torquing everything down correctly, get a Haynes manual theyll help u alot

You can easily do your timing belt when you're putting the head back on, since you have to take it off anyways, if you're close to the recommended interval for that I'd go ahead and throw on new timing/balance belts.

Sure I'll let you know the results, oh why I am doing head gasket ? my engine oil going in to the radiator, but no water going in to the engine (Thank God).
I took her in to the dealer, they told me that, must replace the head gasket, but they want $100.00 per hour + parts, then I ask how many hours are we talking about, they have no Idea.
so I am planning to do the job my self
I order all the parts that I'll need (but waiting).

Uh Oh
you sound like you have the f23 cracked block issue
check this out

also, any dealer that can't walk over to the book and see what a HG job bills for is pretty **** poor IMHO. They should be able to give you a very good estimate of what a HG job should cost.

lol or swap for a K20 wooot, lol, 3.2 from a acura cl type S, or just the V6, i think it shouldnt be that hard, that is.. if u get a rear ended V6accord froma scrapyard and sap the entire subframe thingy that bolts on to the unibody... and if u have wheels that cover the lugs then u can be rice and not convert rear to 5lug
best of luck to u man, but that truly is a testament to honda (something) that u can drive on a CRACKED BLOCK!!!

The only way I know to check a block for cracks is to magnaflux it but that requires you to have it stripped bare. I have heard that it can be pressure tested but I don't know how, nor have I been able to confirm it.
a V6 swap is a real bear to do. you have to swap the wire harness or extend large sections of it. mounts are totally different. not saying it can't be done but you need to weigh your options. Kseries motor swap would also run into a lot of the same issues but not as many. easiest swap is the h22.
a low mileage f23 from a yard will be in the $300 - $500 range. I would reccomend doing the timing belt and waterpump on it anyway, so it's not like you wasted the money for those parts.
way I see it is that you have 3 options: 1)do the HG and hope for the best, 2)have a reputable shop do the work, and if there is a problem get them to reimburse you for labor, or 3)just cut your losses and swap the motor out for a different one.
