cricket noise after i shift.......
hey peoples... when im driving right after i shift i hear a sound from the drivers side that the only way i can describe it is a cricket sound... it last for about a full second and then goes away until i shift again. Its not comming from the tranny because it will also do it when im just idling and rev hi for a second and let off.. anyone else experience this??? At first i thought it was the the ac idler pulley and/or the ac clutch because i know thats going out for sure, but i cut the belt today and its still doing the cricket ****... I need to invest some time and try to pin point it... Just thought id post and see if anyone else encountered this, if so please share so i can save myself some headaches of finding it...
01 GSR by the way

its not the throwout bearing if it was itd be everytime he pressed the cluch and it wouldnt be coming from the driverside. Ive heard of master cylinders squeking wen they go out too.
Do you hear the sound every time you press the clutch pedal in or every time you release the clutch pedal out? Mine clutch pedal squeaks when released but only when the car is running. However, I also have that cricket/chirping sound too in 1st and 2nd gear as I am releasing the clutch pedal.
my friend had a problem that sounds similar, and his noise turned out to be that little bearing in the
flywheel...
anyway, if you go through all the hassle of replacing your throw-out bearing/pressure plate etc., you might as well change that flywheel bearing as well.
good luck!

dang alot of replys! no has noting to do with clutch because it does it when i just rev up at a stand still.. also i replaced my clutch and throw-out bearing along with pilot or flywheel bearing 40k miles ago... i doubt it be a master cylinder cuz like i said i dont need to be actually driving the car... i can just hear it better when im driving than when im under the hood blipin the throttle with my finger.. I just used driving and in between shifts as an example... its like when the revs get up to around 3,000rpm +, then i shift which takes the load of the engine quickly and as the RPMs drop fast i hear the damn cricket noise... and then it repeats itself.. ill try and check it out tomorrow and let u all know if i found anything.... yes, even if i find a grasshopper...

Yea sounds just like a cricket noise. Its def not the pedals. And it is coming from the engine bay. and when you push the clutch in about .5" to 1" it'll slowly go away as you reach 1".

if its making noise while the pedal is not pressed than it could be the input shaft bearing.. but your saying it goes away when its pressed than it could be the throw-out.. id much rather replace a throw out bearing b4 an input shaft bearing cuz input shaft means u gotta open the tranny up... my guess would be the throw out bearing on its way out... especially if it gets louder later...
