Default D16Y7 motor + HF or DX tranny + turbo

no flaming or tell me to get a k-swap...

just like anyother im tired of the 92hp beater... soo i got a 48,6XX mile Y7 for 100 bucks. but i want to turbo it and change some internals. i also have a HF tranny ...just sitting there.... soo wich tranny would be more usefull with the turbo..
i can also get 2.5" all around piping free. soo..

should i get a t3/t4 maybe t25 turbo from a junkyard. OR buy a kit.

BTW- LOW on budget plz, last thing i need is the nasty cherry Dr.Pepper and spening money

Well dont used the HF tranny at all the gears are to long. Im assmuning you want a tranny with longer gears because people with turbo Bs used LS trannys. I say either get an SI tranny or keep your DX tranny. The question you should ask would a DX tranny be better for a SOHC turbo or Si tranny

the dx is better than si and hf but the hf is the worst one you wonna use. People may think it gives you power but it doesnt. The dx one has a longer 1st gear it goes to 30 the hf 45 and si 20-25. THe dx one you wount need to shift right away it better. I have all tree right now i am using a hf on my y8. BUt have the dx for my d16a6 turbo project.

You mean the DX lets you stay in a gear for longer period of time? Anyone else chime in

Don't use the hf tranny for any kind of performance-oriented build. Every time you shift you'll drop WAY out of your power range no matter what engine you run.

yes, i am very aware of that!!
my friend who's sold me the y7 blew his other motor by boosting it .hehe.
it lasted a good...7 months.
to me thats not worth it. so im in the chase for a Y6 head and a Y8/Y6 intake manifold to make the search for turbos be easier

Forget about the HF tranny as already said. Use a DX tranny, perfect for boost. I have a y7 with a small straight T3 turbo putting down 155 Hp and 153 torque. I don't know what turbo lag is, the thing spools up at around 2000 RPM and pulls like a truck, all at 6 psi.
Bone stock engine.

Never been to the track. I am still using the HF axles the car came with and I don't want to break those. I used to have a 13.4 sec B18C5 powered CRX and this car feels faster.
