06 Si 3rd gear problems
Forgive me if this is an old topic on here but...
A while back I noticed my third gear giving me a little bit of resistence then slipping into gear coming in from second. When i went to it from any other gear, it would be fine. I figured it was a problem with the synchronizers and I told Honda that when I took my car. When I got it back, it shifted beautifully but gradually got worse. I think they just changed the tranny fluid.
Anyone else have this problem? Anyone successfully had it fixed under warranty (with or without a short shifter)? I have a short shifter, but these problems were around before i installed.
And it's worse when the car is cold. Any advice?

I'm one of them. I have to double check to make sure it's in 3rd before I release the clutch. It feels likes its in but when I release the clutch that dreaded sound starts. It doesn't do it all the time, but just at times, I notice that I have to push it in further.

Put a syncromesh type tranny fluid in, that will cure the problem. Many many Honda trannies have had this problem over the years, and the syncromesh fluid fixes it.

This gets brought up at least 3 or 4 times a week. Not bashing or attempting to moderate, but please use the search function at top. There's quite a bit of information out there on this issue.

Re: 06 Si 3rd gear problems (mikseries)
Its been covered (SEARCH function)... it seems to be a common problem. I have a Skunk2 weighted shift ****, and since then it isn't as persistent. Just take extra care when shifting 2nd to 3rd. There have been a few times that i've caught myself from grinding the gear just by remembering that it takes a stronger throw. I've noticed it occurring mostly when i've done a quick shift, with a little less action than necessary (when I flick it into gear). So thats my advice, just be cogniscent of the problem. As far as cold-engine, just take it easy till it heats up.

i've had this problem, but if you granny shift it should be fine. Before I shift from 2nd to 3rd and then it pops out of 3rd going into neutral.

Once in awhile i go into 3rd it grinds. and the clutch is all the way in. i go to the dealer and it never happens. and sometimes i gotta give it a push then when it comes out of 3rd it pops out? i just want to fix this problem and get on with it ya know?

everyone seems to have this problem. when u take it to the dealer, they will NOT do anything for u. plain and simple. if u wanna get it fixed and move on either put some of the synchro mesh in as previously suggested in other thread or... and i say this under the impression u will take this with a grain of salt... but f*ck ur 3rd gear up and take it to the dealer and have em rebuild it. my 2nd gear was shot (use the search function and you'll find my thread) and the rebuilt my 2nd gear throughout and now is perfect. i also put in the comptech SS and 3rd is much better. so before u do anything, invest in a short shifter and weighted shift **** as those have been the best ways to counter the shotty 3rd gear

The Si tranny is VERY sensititve to the fluid in the case. Long story short, the Honda MTF ain't cutting it.
I switched to Amsoil MTF and the difference is light night and day. Make the switch and see your tranny problems go away.
