lexan windows... any good?
well, i cracked my windshield for the 2 time in 6 months, and well, honda windshilds are expensive (approx $500+ for a civic). what i was wondering was if it would be logical to get lexan window for a daily driver? they are cheaper, stronger, and lighter than glass. i also called the county sheriff and they said they were legal. the only problem i see so far w/ them is since they are plastic, they will scratch easily. well, i was looking around and i found this site http://www.racingshields.com . it seem like they have a coating to make it very very similar to glass when i comes to scratches. does anyone have any experiance w/ lexan window? would this stuff be any good? i just need to save money, and well, approx $320 instead of $500+ would save quite a bit of money thanks to those who respond
I wouldn't want one for a daily driver. Water doesn't roll off used lexan well, because of the pits and scratches (much like really old glass).
It's the worst in wet weather or at night. Besides, lexan is illegal in most amateur motorsport classes.

I was surprised to find that they're not that much lighter. Seems like a huge pain in the *** for a daily driver, considering that they'll last much less time compared to glass. Why don't you find an insurance co that gives you free glass? Many do...
