Default Insurance rates with the SI

I was checking out insurance rates today to see how much my insurance would go up, and I'm wondering if you guys get a surcharge for having a performance vehicle?

I never even considered the SI a performance vehicle until the salesman I'm working with it kept on referring to it as that. When I bought my v6 accord no performance-related talk was ever said.. yet on my first insurance bill I was given an extra charge for having a performance vehicle. Since it was a 6 cylinder with ~250 HP I can kind of see that. But since the Si is a 4 cylinder with ~200, is it still considered a performance vehicle?

Now I'm just confused.. because I always thought of it as a "performance-inspired" kind of car. Thanks for any info

$1380/year with no "performance vehicle" surcharge and 50/100 full coverage.
$3100/year for all 3 vehicles we have (mine, '95 Honda LX sedan, and '02 Jeep X Sport Wrangler) under the same coverage.

Progressive is pretty awesome for me. Oh, and get this, without the g/f who has some tickets, the Si is only $930/year for me. Too bad she's got to be on my insurance too.

EDIT: Oh yeah, I'm also 32

Awesome, thanks for the replies guys. The salesmen was trying to talk me into getting an accord to avoid "dangerously high" insurance. Somehow it just didn't make sense having an accord have lower insurance than a civic. Now I know

if i went with the rsx-s it would have been about $185 per month, so the si was lots cheaper.

Didn't we already do a whole thread on this subject??

Oh well..i'm 27, and i've had a buttload of tickets..and don't ask me how...but $91/month through State Farm...and i've had my license suspended..and probably a total of about 25 tickets since I was 16...but Florida's great, they really only go back like the last 3 years I think...I've only had 1 ticket in the state of Florida...but i've gotten 6 with the drive from here to back home in Illinois...and I got about 16 tickets living in Illinois...but the cops are a-holes there..

so, 91/month ftw!!

that's ridiculous...you need to jump back on your parent's policy or something...lol..313 a month is way too much..did u know that when u bought that car?? Even 209 is high as hell...Did u have previous insurance on another vehicle before that one?? If so, your rates shoulda been a lot lower than that...

Remember coverage amount as a pivotal factor with your insurance rates.

25/50/25. Under/Uninsurance. Rental. Towing. 250/500 deduct. 25 years of age. 0 points + tickets + accidents ~ $150/month. SafeCo.
