Couldnt really find anything in the search for hybrids

Do you think we can get a sticky for Civic Hybrids (Electric, not Swap) the motors are different, the engines are different, the transmissions are different, the rear suspension is different.

my girl in the rain...

Can we get a sticky? thanks... HT

How do you like your hybrid, btw? What gas mileage do you get on average compared to EPA, how's acceleration and braking? Basically, should I look at this for a daily driver over the civic coupe with already great gas mileage?

i love my hybrid, and im totally not a tree hugger. I had a EF b16turbo for the longest time, then an EK. Sold them for the hybrid...

it gets around 40-45 mpg on average driving normally. but i read in the other civic forums that even the normal civics get crap mileage the first few tanks untill they are broken in. the car is super quite, super stable even at 90 mph.

acceleration is about that of my EK cx (D16Y7) brakes are very good, and handles very well. it could use a rear sway bar (thus i tried searching and thus my idea for a hybrid thread). The rear sway bars currently available all say "except hybrid"

auto climate control is awesome, $2300 tax incentive awesome, carpool by myself = priceless

i post my mpgs at http://www.fueleconomy.gov just search for 07 civic hybrid. My first tank i drove from so cal to phoenix and got 43 mpg going around 75-80 mph it took me 8.5 gallons for the trip 365 miles, and still had a quarter tank left.

I will keep everyone posted on my real mpg. Maybe i will talk to the guys at progress to get rear sway made. also, im thinking about turbocharging it to boost the mileage even more. anything to help the 1.3L ivtec

I LOVE IT!

the hybrid is the only civic that is made in japan.

the sedan and coupe are canada

i think its cheaper to produce with it if they have the hybrid, csx etc etc all in one plant( just speculation)

Definitely makes sense when you put it that way.

On another topic...I hope someone comes out with a csx conversion for the coupes. That front is sooo much sexier in my opinion.

Hey i just went to lake tahoe and rented a civic hybrid just to check it out. It had about 8k miles on it, i was able to get 50mpg. I think that was awsome. 500+ to the tank full. Im really thinking of buying one. It felt just like a regular civic powerwise.

just wondering, how fast were you driving, and did you use cruise control? i drove 365 miles at an average speed of 75 mph and got 43 mpg. although my car is brand new and not broken in

i found that if i used cruise control, the mpg went down because it makes the cvt trans rev to 4000rpm even at the slightest hill. your input would be appreciated

Did not use cruise control, tire press was set at 44/42. I was using the mpg screan(instead of the temp), that really helps.

yeah try more air in the front tires around 40-44psi, and reset your odometer, mpg. Try keeping the mpg bar as high as u can while driving. Hope that helps.

K, i am back in so cal from Phoenix...

I topped off before i left

from Phoenix to 6th mile marker (where i stopped to get gas) exit is Tom Wells Rd.
It is 144 miles. I filled only 2.5 Gallons! thats 56 mpg!!!!!!!

AC off, Didnt use Cruise Control, AVG 70 mph

I filled untill the gas came out of the hole... it was quite embarassing, but i just thought there was something wrong with the pumpcause it popped at 2.3 gal, so i just kept filling...the old lady next to me was like "your leaking "

then from Phoenix to home is another 230 miles.

It got hot so i turned on the AC, and i got tired so i used cruise control and drove 75-80 mph I filled next to home at 6.2 gal... again till the gas came out of the hole = 37 mpg. the trip meter on the car said avg mpg = 42.0 mpg (for the entire trip)

so it is quite possible to get 50+ mpg. it all depends on your driving style. the slightest bit of agression on the throttle makes the mpg go way down

hope this was interesting/helpful 56 mpg ftw!

needless to say i went home and washed my car first thing! with the gas incedent and all... i thing b u n m a n g o would be proud

Sounds good, by the way, when the pump pops, you should leave it at that, the car relies on that space to build tank pressure, and if it doesnt get that right when you start, it can effect gas mileage. At least thats what I have been told.

New MPG report!

I filled with about 1/3 a tank left. Filled all the way till the thing popped, then filled till it poped a second time just to make sure. Mind you this is all city driving, 90% about 10% hwy. Drove normally, not super fast or slow...

filled 6.5 gallons, 325mi on the triptometer = 50mpg!!!

I think the on board is wrong, it said 43mpg. so yeah, it is def capable of 50+ mpg.

I am saving up for a Civic 07, and I would like to get either the EX or maybe the Hybrid; I like the dark gray color from the Hybrid and the blue interior; I wish the EX had those colors.
The only issues with the Hybrid is that are way too expensive (overpriced) $3000-5000 more that the EX, that means that you have to pay and extra $5000 more to save on gas, but it seems like you will need to keep and drive the car for around 5 years to make up for the extra $; then after the five years you really will save and smile.
On the other hand if you buy the EX, you save around $5000 and then put them back on gasoline in 5 years.
My tax accountant told me that the $2300 credit is not the you are getting money back from the IRS and is just that the IRS will put that money in your retirement, so I was desapointed, was hoping for and extra $2300 in my return check (correct me if this information is wrong).
Then the other problem is that you must maintaint and repair it at the Honda dealer because most mechanic and shops do not know how to fix it or even change the oil, so the Dealer will ripp you off big time.
Let's hope prices drop soon, so more people can afford it.

my accountant told me that i get to deduct it from my income tax, so say i paid $20,000 in taxes this year, i get $2300 of it back at the end of the year

the social gains of a hybrid far offset those of its operating costs. If you are a true economist (not to say that you are not), you would know that social benefits are one of the most costly.

also, i can get 550+ miles before filling my tank, no other civic can do it, also, carpool alone. a civic EX goes for appx $21,000 (i may be wrong), by the end of this year, you can pick up a hybrid for around $23,000, with yor $2,300 back, you would have paid less than an ex.

the last plus would be the auto climate control, and the chicks dig it

I have the 06 hybrid and love the experience. Yes, the tax break comes from your income this year...i freelance a lot so it's good that i'm getting the tax break at the end of the year. But regardless of it's gas mileage and tax break, scientists have said that if you take every car off the road and replace them with hybrids, its the equivilant of taking 100,000,000 cars off the road...thats amazing.
