H22 Vs K20
I am deciding whether to Keep my 94 lude with a JDM H22 (with skunk2 stage 2camshafts) and beef it up more. or Sell it, then buy a K20A and buy a hatch or CRX, or Swap my H22 from my lude put it into a hatch/CRX???
I think that H22 should only belong in a Prelude
H22
*VTECK variable timing electronic lift control Killer
*obd1
*200 hp
K20
*V TECH Variable timing electronic cam hippo
*obd2
*200 hp
-------------------------------------------------------------------
For an EG I'd go with K20 . But $$$$$$$
h22 is about $2000-2400
K20 is about $2500 +
I like the K20 but hate OBD2, only if there was an OBD1 k20 then i'd get it.
I think that the k20 is an excellent motor.
k20- 8.5/10
H22- 6.5/ 10

the only way i would do h22 in a hatch is if i did the H2B conversion.

K20 is the Shiet!.....So this is the ARIEL ATOM:
Motor: K20 Vtec. + supercharged! : Produces maybe 270 Horses.
But Power to Weight Ratio, this "Ariel Atom" makes about <U>500 horses! / ton!</U>
WIkipedia.Org:
Ariel Atom: A supercharged Honda Civic Type-R K20 engine and a Supercharged 2.0 Litre 300hp 250 ft/lbs GM Ecotec engine both of which can reach speeds rivaling those of much more expensive automobiles. Although the top speed of approximately 140-150 mph is relatively tame compared to more exotic sports cars, the high power-to-weight ratio (<U>approximately 500 bhp/ton)</U>
That's the possiblities of the Mighty K20. In a Hatchback, you can also expect great numbers.
You can build these for Under $20k dollars and street Legal !!!!!

" HONDA ROCKS!"
Hmm..good point.
H22 - 2.2 liter - 200hp
K20 - 2.0 Liter - 200hp
I believe k20 is lighter. Can someone concur ?
I dont know, I am just so frustrated with H seris, I can't find any parts for my H23 piece of Shi....
I regret not getting a DC2 b18.

The K is lighter than the H plus the technology only gets better as time goes on. Remember the H22 has been around for 13 almost 14 yrs now. The K is somewhat brand new.
Honestly You wouldn't catch me doing a K series swap in a hatchie when I could spend far less money doing so with a H22 w/ a H2B conversion and end up with almost the same result power wise.

/this thread
this point has been beaten to death plenty of times
it will be easier for the average guy to make more power with the k series, though it will be more expensive up front
the h swap would be cheaper initially, but to make good power you really need custom parts

Yeah I really hope this thread goes no further. There's already been a looooong thread about this in pain staking detail in the all motor forum. There are reasons why the K series makes power almost magically. The answere to much of that is in it's basic mechanical components. Components that can be matched or beaten by ingenuity. But I hope no one here dares to stir something up if they haven't read every page of the thread I mentioned...seriously!

A complete K20 changeover is going to run you around $3500-$4000 for everything. K20's are great engines... I got rid of my H series set-up and now I'm K series fo' life sucka!
Just keep in mind... they aren't cheap.

I suppose w/ the "weight" factor, it wouldn't be worth it

There's a 5th gen roaming around with one. The great thing about the K's is that you can make 250whp NA with a stock bottom end running 93 octane all day long. They are extremely efficient motors

Dammit! I thought I would be the first one (if I were to do the swap).
Well, if I my motor ever takes a dive, you know what will be going in there.
edit: enjoy... http://www.imagestation.com/album/?id=2126039730

Why the expletive is this thread even being tolerated/entertained? This has been beaten to death a million ******* times in the all motor section. Do your own thinking OP and/or searching.
I say keep your prelude a prelude. If you want a k20 go buy a DC5. Stop bein a noob and go mod your car. At the end of they day you will still be able to make just as much or more as the k20 but it just might cost you more. End this thread, Noobs puting k20s in prelude. Bah... Thats like puting s2000 engine+tranny in a prelude. Its no longer a prelude, its an s2000 in a prelude shell. Traitors
