Default WTF? JDM D15 Vtec and JDM SOHC ZC Vtec

I was checking some prices online and ran across a ZC 1.6 vtec motor and ecu and a D15 sohc vtec motor and ecu imported from Japan. I found these over at http://www.ardperformance.com/store/...framehome.html
They said they bolt into the 92-95 civics...what's the deal with these things? I've been around Hondas for awhile and have heard of these motors but have never heard of them being imported or of any power numbers. I might drop a turbo ZC motor in instead of a DOHC vtec mill. Thanks a lot!!!

Default jdm d15

the jdm d15 uses the vx bottom end (longer rods than dx) and vtec head
the jdm sohc zc is made in the US and is just a d16z6

however i have heard, but not comfirmed that the jdm d15 came with a lsd
can say ya or nay

indeed I used to have both, but there actually were four variants of the sohc vtec:
ETi 1.5l VTEC-E 94ps/92hp (our VX motor)
VTi 1.5l VTEC 130ps/128hp (1.5l VX block with d16z6 head)-same hp but less torque, but revved nicely

Domani ZC (sohc vtec) was 1.6l 130ps/128hp, identical to our D16z6
Civic Coupe D16A (sohc vtec) a 1.6l 130ps/128hp, indentical to our d16z6, actually this one was assembled in Ohio/Ontario Honda Plants

yes the VTi came with optional LSD tranny, I had one, its a Torsen type, gearing was the same as a d16z6 on all but the ETi(VTEC-E)

ard sucks. I know a guy who bought a ZC swap from them. They sent him an integra ecu that had ZC written on it. The valve cover had a massive hole in it, and the tranny lasted about two months before being completely thrashed. He had a hard time with them when he ordered(shitty customer service). Go somewhere else for your swap.

I wasn't really planning to buy from ard, but they're the only site I've actually seen them on sale at. Thanks for the help guys!

I thought about getting one of those engines as well to replace my d15z1 (vx) motor. Would the 92-95 ecu out of si or ex work along with the vx wiring and tranny? TIA

The ZC is by far the most overlooked motor Honda has produced. I personally feel that it's a cool little motor for the buck. Sad thing is, there are NO parts available stateside. I had one in my EF way back, and was very happy with it. A buddy of mine had a carb'd ZC in his EF, and it hauled ***, loved the sound of that beast too. BTW: I've never heard of a VTEC ZC, I always thought they were DOHC non-vtec motors...
