Default JDM ITR (B18c) vs USDM ITR (B18c5)

Im planning on swapping the b16 out of my eg hatch in the spring,

right now it comes down to either a usdm b18c5 or a jdm b18c itr, as i dont have the time or money at the moment to play around with a K which was my origional plan.

the reason im not building the b16 is because im looking for a drop in swap, i/h/e and tune and leave it pretty much other than bolt ons (reliability is key)

around here its usually about 900-1000 more for a JDM ITR vs the USDM and basically what ide like to know is if its worth it for the extra .5 compression point.

Ive done some pretty extensive searching, but I still havent found an answer from people who have delt with both engines.

If you are just swapping the longblock, base your decision on price.

word up, itr motors are way overpriced for what you get. you can put together a new, never been beat on b20 vtec and make far more tq and hp for less money.

but then you have to worry about if your doing the build right and if you don't know how to do it yourself then labor is going to kill.

Plus you don't get the ITR tranny.

I would really rather not build the motor since ive had bad luck with built engines in the past that were daily driven.

I know its more than possible to get a good builder than can build one, but ide rather not right now.

any concenus on the jdm itr (98+) vs usdm itr?

well if you're not going to build it and pretty dead set on getting a ITR motor, I suggest that you get the JDM ITR motor as it has higher compression and we can easily get 94 octane here

What makes you think 4.7 is better. When drag racing, I come from behind and pass 98' ITR's with my 96' ITR. Both of us were bone stock.

Who said its going to be used for drag racing? Final Drives are a bit more for its attributes other than just drag racing.
