obx is actually ok. but yeah, you just have to tear it down and measure everything / tighten everything

which kinda doesn't make it sound so great eh? should have just put the other 400 bux to get a quaife and have lifetime warrenty

Those were actually close to a year ago. Since then lots of people have been posting success with their OBX LSD's. It's recommended that you crack it open and retorque everything to make sure it's good

Yeah, take it all apart, torque all the bolts right when you put it back together and don't froget to put the tension washers back in the correct order or else it will be a noisy ****. I read a write-up the other day on here that shows how to do it (for a B-series diff)....you should be able to search for it.

I love how people rip on OBX with only hearsay or nothing at all to back it up. If he's gonna give ita try just shut up and watch for a yea / nay in a few months.

I'd much rather see some actual results, positive or negitive, than just listen to people scream about how everyone they know hates obx and everything they make.

I have bin running the OBX LSD for 20000 km now whitout any problems.

Most of those km´s I was running 350 whp

Drive shafts is a bit hard to get out, but you just need a crowbar to get them out.

have they started beveling that inside lip for the splines to come out or are people still having to do that themselves?

I just bought mine off ebay a couple weeks ago, 94+ Integra LS, and the backsides were beveled.

Hopefully the Prelude units are good to go, but who knows, D's-and B's seem to outnumber H's 10 to 1.

I have never heard good things about phantom grip, but I've never tried them. Again it is a copy of an OPM LSD though. I've heard the OPM unit is great and REALLY agressive. A lot of the track guys prefer them. However, I don't know if they ever made anything for the prelude. Even the ones for the b & d series stuff is hard to come by these days (so I've heard).

i have one sitting right here that looks great and has the edges of the splines all bevelled jsut like stock.

in case no one noticed that thread was from May 2005......this is October 2006. IT seems that many people are having a fine time with thse LSDs since OBX updated their design.

Sweet, tell OBX to send me a check for the R&D work I did for them.

i am sure you could get themn to split it up with everyone else in the nation who bought one and had that problem early on....and im sure the total will come to less than the cost of postage for that check.

getting stuff like that is always a risk of being a first....bugs, glitches, poor design choices, all that comes out with the first generation of a prduct, even from companies that spend a lot mroe on R&D. If we all listened to the stories about the very first generation of Honda s300 software no one would be buying the hondata s300. If we ONLY listened to the stories about the bugs in a first generation of an operating system, such as say, windows xp....no one would be buying it.

When you are a "first" you are also buying the risks that go with it....and OBX's reputation regarding their customer backing has never been a secret.

I feel your pain, but thats why I waited a long time before buying one, I did not want to buy the risk, I leave that to others.

Very true, I work for a company that designs products, and the first cut always does have problem. That is why there is a thing called the warranty. You offer it to let customers know that if there are problems you will take care of them. Everyone knows and understands this concept. Except our friends at OBX.

They offered a Lifetime warranty that expired the moment it left their factory.

Question: Did Hondata take care of the s300 customers that had a problem? I bet they did.

The reason OBX exists today is b/c of people in the import world are easy to take advantage of. They keep making ****, and we keep buying it. Why? Because we are trying to save a buck.

Personally, after entering amateur racing I have developed great respect for companies that develop good products, and most importantly take care of their customers. I will never be caught on track or at an autocross with a part that I purchased to save a buck over the other guys product, just to have it fail and potentially hurt/kill me. My dollars will go to the company that will take care of me.

Does **** happen? Sure. However, if you buy OBX you are asking for it.
Ever considered what would happen if that diff fails while you are running the 1/4, or doing 100+ around a track? All of a sudden a few hundred dollars seems irrelevant doesn't it.

exactly, risking $400 over possibly ruining my car, at least a transmission and probably engine, could even endanger my life....not worth the risk at all if you ask me

Ive never understood why people try to go the cheap way just to save money, when in the long run they are gonna have to spend money to replace the shiet that just broke. One true fact of life is: You get what you pay for. I would rather wait the extra few months to save up the money and get a good quality part.
