Default My 18G+SuprDave

Well i finally got out to Whipfactory yesterday evening. Simple 18G on a stock bottom end'd B16, 3in dp and exhaust with 525cc injectors Tuned on Neptune

The goal was 240-250whp in the end, but on the first pull it made 249whp...Needless to say i was pretty excited...

So after about 3-4 hours we finally got some amazing peak numbers out of the car. For all you non-believers out there. About 9 PSI

So after our last pull we noticed some smoke coming out of the valvestem breather...after a lttle while we dismissed it and took it off the dyno...

So as planned that day we headed right to the track later for some timed runs...

I only got one run in which was a 13.2@110 with a terrible 2.24 60'...

And then i fried some rings(pretty sure it was do to a boost spike)... But i must say the power on the street felt so amazing, i never felt my car break the tires loose at 40mph with a drag radial on it. Too bad wont feel that power again for a couple of months.

We were laughing after the tune, calling it "The little 18G that could"

And Dave thanks again for a fun couple of hours and letting me squeeze all the information out of you that i could, it was a great day even though my car blew up...

Time for my build i guess, wiseco's and eagles have been waiting.

How'd you crack your stock ringlands at only 275whp? Beating on it untuned?

I take it you do not have A/C with a 3 in DP in the 18G kit? I have the stock kit too but I only got up to 248whp @ 12 psi with a stock diameter exhaust. Good luck with rebuild. It is fun and rewarding in the end if you plan on doing it yourself.

Well in the past i was on a street tune but only making 215whp...
The car got tuned on Neptune the same day it blew, i just think the motor was kinda tired in the first place and shouldnt have been pushed as far as it was...

i dont know how you made that much power on that little turbo at such low boost.....i have a T3/T04E 60 trim on 9psi and made the same #'s...i guess its because you're on 93, i'm on 91....i have a log, you probably dont....i have a 2.5" exhaust, you have a 3".....

sucks that your car blew up, but it will be more fun once its built....

Nope i was still on the stock greddy log manifold, just with a v-band discharge and 3in straight turbo-back exhaust... If you watch the video's i posted you can hear how loud the car was, now it just sounds like a WRX

About how much is an hour or two of dyno tuning cost these days at the whip factory?

Trent, what's up man! The SI is gone then huh?

Worries me that it happened the same day. You're not really "pushing it" with that kind of HP. What kind of compression numbers do you get across the board? I hope it wasn't detonation that killed the motor. Take some pics of the pistons when you rip it apart.

273 @ 9psi on that little 18G...nice! Where are the torque numbers and A/F's? Anyway good run and hope the build up goes smoothly

Well its not gone, but its down for a little while... i need some time to pull the motor and send it to the machine shop. Hopefully i can get it up and running before the end of christmas break.
My guess is that the internal wastegate spiked pretty heavily and took out a piston or two, Dave was telling me that my boost gauge was off compared to what the 3-bar was reading or whatever.
Yeah and 273whp was pretty wild for the 5 hours that it lasted, the powerband was sick as hell... but it will be back and better than ever soon.

Good numbers man Your car's always been impressive, lookin forward to see what your build does. Although had you used more JB Weld and zip ties in your setup, it probably woulda lasted longer
