Default Help Tach Problem

I own an 89 civic Si . Recently my tach needle has been jumping around like crazy. i mean below 4000 rpms its normal , but when i floor it the needle will jump instantly from 4400 -8000.
So i never know what rpm im at. For a while i thought it was the clutch slippin but also in neutral when i rev past 4000 rpm itll start to jump around like crazy.

any Help would highly be appreciated Thanks

umm new tach out of a cluster. Check mitchell island down in surrey cause they got a lot of cheap wreckers down there. It is right before the oak street braidge check the map for stevensons road.

Yeah getr a new one cause my buddies 78 civic 1g always spun 3 times around backwards on start up and shut down.

Good luck

it sounds like a problem i used to have with my old crx. the plug wires were getting interferrence with the coil somehow or something. causing it to read irratic rpms....but new crx have internal coils...so ??????????? just a thought. good luck

well the bearing in his dizzy could be bad too. My bearing went out on my way up ti philly and it was doing this, jumping around the whole time. When we took the dizzy apart the thing had locked up so it could be that too.
