How to fix Fast Idle Thermo Vlave (FITV)!
If you understand the basic concept of taking things apart and putting them back together this is a fairly easy task to handle! The FITV is located underneath of the throttle body which has two coolant lines running through the valve coming off of the block. Disconnect the coolant lines and unbolt the valve. Unscrew the screws at the opposite end of the where the collant goes in. There will be a big white plastic nut inside of the valve. You will notice that there is alot of oil build. Pull the valve out, noticing the way it is put in there. Honda does not want you to kno that you can take this apart. Next, take a can of carb cleaner and spray the valve untill it looks brand new, clean the inside of where the valve goes. This will help to make sure that all parts are spinning free, and they are not getting stuck. Put the valve back in the same way you took it out and tighten the white plastic nut until you can not turn it anymore. This will allow for your airflow to be very pure. It is a good idea to replace all gaskets that where old. Put the the FITV back on your car, connecting the coolant lines, and it should work as if it was brand new. Dont lose any of the component to this valve.
