99-00 Civic Si CD player in 93 Civic HB...
I need some help/advice. I will be recieving an Si radio within the next week or so, and I'd like to install it in my car myself. Unfortunately my car came with the harness cut, leaving bare wires only.
Do I absolutely need a 96-00 Civic harness, or is there a way around this? If I need one, where can I get one, the Stealership only?
How do I actually go about fitting the radio in? Do I need the metal sleeve that hold the unit in place, and the one screw in the back?
If I have left anything out as far as obsticles, or anything else that might come in handy, please feel free to let me know. I greatly appreciate any help given. TIA

go to the dealership, and get the radio adapter harness for 99-00 SI. Its about $20 bucks. This will be a plug with loose wires on the end. That will plug into your SI radio. Just take the loose wires off the end of the plug and match them up with the loose wires coming out of your car. Some wire colors will be the same, like speaker wire. Others will be difference. When I did mine, my buddy at the dealership photo copied the wiring diagrams for me out of the service manual. That helps alot. Good Luck

2000 si radio in my 93..very easy..take the old one out.now me..i had the 99 si plug already stuck in the back with part of the harness just chopped off..i chopped off my original one and just matched up the wires. simple. i think i had one extra wire that wasnt in use.
fastening it down..hmm..**** was wierd..the lil fastening screw that goes under EG radios..the si one does not have this option..doesnt line up. what i did was somehow jimmy rigged a thin zip tie around the structure under the radio..into the holes in the radio,,made it real tight. so it doesnt pop otu like all my friends with 99 radios in eg's. then i just put back the console..u cant tell at all.

if the harness you get from the dealer has the same wire colors comming out of it as it would in the stock Si then just match up the wires. The wires in hondas are all the same (despite the plug) from the mid 80's, and im not 100% sure but possibly up to the 2002 models. If that doesnt work you can get the *male* plug to plug into the stereo from a stereo shop that will at least have labeled ends that tell you which wire is what, then you can just test them in the car and make the connections. If that makes no sense, sent me a PM.
