Maintenance Required Light
A couple days ago, out of the blue, the Maintenance Required light has been coming on everytime I start the car. It blinks a couple times, about 5 or 6 and then goes away. It does not come back on while I am driving, only when I start the car up.
Any possible reasons?
Edit: Did some google-age, is it coming on because they want me to take it to the dealership and get ripped off?

Don't have mine on hand but check your owners manual. If you know for a fact that all you **** is straight, there are instructions on how to reset the maintenance required light.
Or just go to a Midas (or a similiar place) that gives a FREE CEL diagnostics. I'm sure they can let you what's going on without you visiting your dealership.

The light is there to remind you of regular routine maintenance that the ECU knows needs to be performed.
To reset it, all you have to do is hold down the trip odometer, start the car, and wait 10-12 seconds.
Shut the car off, and restart t to check and see if it has been reset.

I felt better posting where to find it.
Didn't really feel like taking the chance of posting inaccurate info.

It is purely a simple reminder based on mileage alone. Totaly dumb and blind to anything else that is going on.
BTW, it is not necessary to start the engine to reset it. Just push and hold the trip odometer select/reset button and turn the key to run. Hold until the light goes out.
This and other details are explained in the owner's manual.
