rear fog/brake light installation problems?
Well, if you want it to function as some sort of extra brake light, then you can just splice the wiring into your existing brake lights. However, that is not how a rear fog lamp is intended to function.

yup, he's got it. or you can run a wire from your foglight switch to the back and have it turn on with your foglights

Drawing power from the fog lamps is fine (in many cars, the front fog lamps must be on in order for the rear lamp to function), but if you want it wired correctly, it should still have a separate switch.

Well, in countries that require a rear fog lamp, there are also rules in place regarding its usage. One of the rules limits the speed at which you can be traveling with the lamp on. There are different situations where it might be appropriate to use the front fog lamps but not the rear, and thus they require the rear fog lamp to have its own switch as well as an illuminated indicator that the driver can see.
