Are 88 and 90 master cylinders the same? CRX SI's?

Yes you are wrong....very close but wrong. You want the 90-91 Civic 4dr EX it is larger and bolts right up. You stock one is 13/16 the EX one is 15/16.

no, it just changes because of the different bore size doesnt match the piston size. 90-91 Si have large calipers and rear disc brakes.
but changing just the MC to a smaller bore size will take more pedal stroke for the same amount of volume. 7th grade math.
