POS AEM EMS
I guess this is just a rant, but if anyone rememeber's my last post about having bugs on my new build i.e. temp fluctuating etc, well AEM said the problem is the Box itself. I bought this last year apparantly with the 1000 boxes this can happen and there is no fix for it. unless u buy a brand new one which has the problem fiixed. so basically I have to suck it up. currently my TPS, IAT, and water temp fluctuates at idle like crazy. so That means a tuner cant setup any fail safe's, because the car would shut off every few minutes if they did because of the false readings.
Now the car is fully capable of being tuned and ****, but I wont be able to have any safety **** except for boost cut. I guess I wouldnt complain if this was a $500 EMS, but I paid $1400 for it and Im basically being told by AEM "oh well"

my civic si ran shitty as hell with the ems. it would stall like crazy if it was raining out. i sent my ems back to aem...about a moth later it came back and ran much better...the idle was still crazy but my car wouldnt turn off it was raining.
I was wondering what aem would do if they had to replace the whole board inside and if that would fix the problem for you?I think maybe you might have to find a way to fry it really bad so that they will have to replace it with a whole new board?Good luck
I have a 1010 box. No issues here. I had issues with 2 brand new C2Di and 1 Twin-Fire. Customer service never failed me once. I even have an offer from Scott, the Twin-Fire design engineer, to test out some proto-type changes on the Twin-Fire for free. They will handle all the cost.......
Whats funny is I waited for the "new" boxes to be released as the old ones would die randomly. now I am finding out that I should have waited even longer, for boxes that dont have sensor reading issues, AEM is a POS Company. I'll be researching Hondata pretty soon.

this doesnt make any sense. AEM is suppose to send u a new unit if they cant fix the old one. these things have lifetime warranty i think. Call them back and threaten to sue

either you talked to somebody who misunderstood you, or your not telling us everything. did you open the box up? or tamper with it in any way? the box should be under warrenty and thats in clear writing. If you dont know your rights, then you dont have the right to rant meng
Im not really buying the explination you were told. AEM warranty service has always been fantastic. At the very last they will probably swap it for another 30-1000 box that hopefully wont have the same problem. I have a really old 1010 box (5 years old) and never had this problem either. It sounds like this is a grounding or electrical issue, the AEM is hypersensative to things like that.

I would definitely contact them again.I have a 1010 box that is about 4 years old and I have had to send it in for a few things and they have taken very good care of me.I will agree that it depends on who you spoke to sometimes they seem like they do not want to help you.Just call them and ask for a return number and ship it back.

This wasnt explained to me by AEM. This is what the tuner was told when he called them, he is constantly dealing with them so he is known on a first name basis, they said, if the box was sent back they would test it and if it tests ok then they would send it back because this fluctuation **** doesnt constitute as a broken box.
But On a plus side, he said he usually speaks to mitch but he was busy that day so he spoke to some other dude, so like the guy above just said, he probably spoke to a noob or something. hopefully The Mitch fellow can get me a new box.
