OT: Need Help w/ OEM Parts Compatibility (Mike k. ?)
I'm trying to finish up my hatchcrap (somewhat worthy of this forum since it has ITR valvetrain
)
I'm having some difficulty with brakes. I bought some JDM EG-10.3" Rotor (or so I thought) knuckles from Sheng. I find out last weekend that I got two different calipers. One was JDM and one was USDM.... they take different style brake pads
A friend gave me some nice 4g Prelude Si calipers (Non-vtec). According to my research the rotor size on a DC and 4G Prelude Si are very close 10.3 vs. 10.2 respectively.
Are the 4g Prelude calipers interchangeable with the DC (non ITR) rotor's/knuckles?
I'm just trying to save myself some time and frustration....
Thanks
Clayton

Okay... I answered my own question at lunch time, and I thought it would be appropriate to post up my finders for the record so other hybrid types can learn.
4g Prelude Si calipers WILLwork with the DC/EG 10.3" rotor/knuckle. The calipers are a full inch longer and 1/2" wider. Depending on the offset and style of wheel you are running, you may need to grind a little bit off the outer edge of the caliper mounting bracket. The only other real issue is that the pad sits .1" towards the inside of the rotor - thus making the effective rotor diameter 10.2". You would expect this since the 4g Prelude uses a 10.2" rotor. I could see no clearance issues using the 10.3" rotor when everything was cold. I will try them tonight and see if there are any issues due to expansion of the rotor.
The size of these calipers is very close to that of the 5g Prelude, ITR, Accord Wagon.
