Default Growing Popularity of Methanol/Alcohol kits on hondas

I do alot of work on Subarus and they have always big large fans of Methanol kits, and alcohol injection

But recently i have seen quite a few hondas using this set up lately

Does anyone on here use it?

From what i understand from seeing it on other cars, it basically just lets you run a higher boost level and run a bit more timing to obtain a bit more power

also from what i have seen it is very extreme, such as:

04 STi on boost only made like 420, but with a methanol injection kit it made somewhere close to 540

anyone on here using this?

such as this one from snow performance? they boast gains of over 50+hp and say you can run almost 10 degrees more timing

I don't like the idea of having to worry about my meth/alch cell being full.

I am sure you could make a system with a level indicator which would disable you from sending a toggle to your ems to switch maps to compensate for the meth/alch injection.

I have used it on a few cars. Like a supercharged GSR. It worked well, kept the temps cooler and basically steam cleaned the engine in the process. I forget exactly what kit he used, I think it might of been the kit from jackson racing.

yeah i am not too big on it but have seen some good numbers coming from the kits locally, mainly DSMs, WRXs, and a few hondas.

the hondas i am seeing are completely bone stock motors making great numbers, and if the cooling is as good as it says+ the quality of detonation resistance it provides, would be worth a test, i guess

i was thinking of using the hondata nitrous feature and a relay set up in order to use this to add timing and fuel if necessary, i could also have it to output my profec switch in order to switch to higher boost level MAP,

I run a Cooling Mist meth kit, dropped around 100 degs of EGT temps off my WOT readings under full boost, I also dont have to worrie about filling the car up with leaded fuel to run hig boost on the street(or track), If done right it is a VERY useful tool, as it is a detonation reducer and a carbon cleaner :D Some say they dont like the uneven distrabution, but all is solved with a manifold fitted with 4 extra bosses (VIC-X) and 4 injectors/misters. I advise most all my customers that want to make big numbers on pump gas to look into a meth kit..

Sooo. Yea, Love the ****, dont know what I did B4 without it :D

I will probubly be running their stage1 kit on my car. I like how it has an adjustable boost switch. I would only set it to my full boost setting so It's not spraying all the time.

We will be tuning the car without it, so if the bottle runs dry I don't run a risk of detonating. It will just add some peice of mind/detonation resistance.

i dont like it at all... too many things to worry with. too many pieces to fail and cook the motor.

Not on the pumpless kit, it uses boost to draw in the fluid, no pumps or electronics to fail. flow is regulated by a jet. only problem is there is no level sensor.

You could use neptunes output features to turn it on and off too, instead of the just a boost switch. You can control it just like nitrous then add timing/fuel. It could even check the fluid level switch before it turns the system on, So you don't have to worry about it running dry.

i have been debating for a while if i should get a water/meth kit for my car, but i have not heard a lot of information about how well they work on hondas. does anyone know if it is possible to make over 500whp safely with a water/meth kit and 94 octane pump gas?

It's not as simple as it sounds... If the system is active, then all is good. It is when the system fails while you think everything is still working which causes problems.

I agree on that as well... I only spray very little percentage of water, about 5-6% vs the amount of fuel. I've had **** happen with clogged/corroded brass jets, but the engine is only tuned on the aggressive side but still runs okay without water injection. I can feel the engine being "strung" if the system fails. I use it just so it allows more margin of error especially when I took the extra step in running higher compression and still be able to push good power on pump gas.

My roommate is using it on his 03 supercharged eclipse, and my bro is using it on his 95 Talon awd. both have had very positive results.

It only burns thru meth fast on full 1/4 mile runs, but if you're not a complete dumbass and can remember to check it frequently, you shouldn't have any problems.

i plan to have my engine tuned without the mist and then when the car is tracked on a road course, i will spray the mist for that added insurance. the power loss wont be a problem because most of the power that i'd be making would be unusable anyway. even if the nozzle failed to atomize the water it will still be fine. theres not enough water to hydrolock the engine.
