DIY: JDM HID Adjustments
Anyways I've finally gotten off my lazy butt two days ago and decided to tinker with the Oem HID's that i've had for awhile. Anyways i've searched and looked if anyone ever had a diagram on what exactly to do nor where there any pics. Its not rocket science but i'd figure it could help individuals who have the JDM HID's and are sick and tired of people flashing them assuming we have our high beams on.
There are 3 adjustable gears on the jdm headlights. Two i've figured out but i got tired and didnt get a chance to tinkle with the last one. (I was already going blind by staring at the hid's for awhile trying to align them and make sure that both were evenly pointed forward).
Here is the pic (note this isn't mine, found it in the archives and was the closest thing to be used as an example):

I know it's probably irrelevant and many of you already know which one goes for what but thought i'd add maybe* a useful info in the future.
I know everyone uses the wall and etc. but i thought i'd look at it from the front to get an idea of which one is brighter (actually not the issue more like adjustment on either pointing inward or outward.) I'll take pics when i find someone to drive my car around the block who is trustworthy and is guaranteed to come back with it in one piece

lol, good info. Mine too need an adjustment so people stop flashing me.
....although I thought that, no matter how much you adjust, the beam will always be angled slightly to the left since the headlights were meant for Japan's road sytem?

how can i explain it without using a diagram.....this is the best that i can do

adjusting the level of the HIDs one thing but i dont know if any of you notice if you sat about ten feet from the car and slowly lowered yourself to see if both intensity of the HID shine intensely at the same time. My wasn't and it seemed that my right side headlight was more brither than normal. Although i know a few peopel indicated that the reason why this was so is due to the RHD that accomodates for more intesity towards the drivers side. I'm not sure if that is true, but with mine it was in fact so. I played around with it and found out that the outer most gear seems to adjust the HID's direction (which is what i mean by inward and outward). I sat in front a few times to see if both intensity and brightness are bilaterally n symmetrically even (as close as it gets). Checked both left and right side and now they are more evenly closed together. Its different if you have a retro fit since you can adjust it the way you want with out turning those freakn gears, but i almost went blind for a few mins by lookn at dem HIDs.
oh btw dennis stop bustin my *****...
lol

i've managed to adjust mine, i dont think that honda created a limitation on the headlights adjustment, but so far i could be proven wrong, however mine seems to be adjustable. The level* of the left side will definitely be higher when facing the wall, can't do nothing about that but has anyone of you noticed that when you slowly sit down infront of the car that one of the headlights will shine intensely first followed by the other (doesn't matter which one but usually its the driver's(left side)side that shine brighter first). I've managed to adjust as close as i could but there is still a very small difference in level of both headlights. The left one being just a tad bit higher than the right, but the intensity of both HID's are symmetrically even now.
Although adjustment may work for some, one has to take into consideration though the way their jdm conversion has been installed (noting the level of the radiator support and headlight being bolted on evenly).

Ah, thanks for the updated picture.
You could have just said it adjusts the headlight left and right
Great writeup, I'll definately be referring to it someday.

Also take note that the height of the HID also depends on the weight of such things as the things in the trunk and how many people are riding in the car. when I have my full sets of tools and what not, the lines on my HID got higher. the adjustments are not limitless as previously stated. I've opened up the HID headlights before and actually looked at the adjusting screws.
