Default Head Swap questions.

Is it possible for me to get a DOHC head on my SOHC? Another question is can I buy a SOHC vtec head and put it on my car to get vtec???

iight man. Do you have the same year and all that. I'm currently looking into DOHC and SOHC swap, both with vtec. If we have the same car or close to it. We can both help each other out.

jdm f22b and h23 heads swap right onto f22ax/bx blocks.

doing a sohc vtec head swap is pretty pointless, especially if you paid for the head and all the **** you need for wiring bteq.

They swap right on. Would I still have to get a different solenoid? or just the head? Thanks for the help. Any information would be great considering I am just getting into it.

If you don't have vtec then you have to convert the head to vtec..and as stated above doing a sohc head swap is pointless, do a dohc swap and then get an h23 intake manifold (ported) and a larger throttle body, you could probably find everything for around $500

I assume you are referring to the VTEC solenoid? Both the H23A1 and JDM F22B heads are DOHC non-VTEC so you don't need any VTEC solenoid.

Anyway, here are some good articles on the DOHC head swap.

...G23 VTEC...
F22b2 block+H22a1 head, F22 VTEC, F22B/VTEC
New Frankenstein Engine = G23 (F23/H23 write up)

I'm sure there are probably others if you search, these are just a few that can be found in the Prelude FAQ thread.

Nice. How much of a difference does it make? Is the H23 head vtec or no? Was it a hard swap?

you are a trial member for a certain amount of time. I don't remember the time period but I want to say it's 14 days or something.

Once that time period is up you can post in most forums and change your avatar.

Also, if you want to sell something Accord specific you can post it up in the FS/WTB thread located at the top of the Accord forum. Otherwise, if it's parts for cars other than Accords you'll need to wait for your full membership to post in the marketplace.

if you were to do a h22 head swap on a f22 block..is that just as good as doing an H22 full motor swap...cuz thats what im about to do I havent bought it yet but Ive heard some ppl talk about it and was wondering if thats just as good as the full swap?

I've read, mostly on CB7Tuner, that most of the people doing the H head swap prefer it over the full H swap because of the iron sleeved F blocks being more friendly with boost.

Thats just one arguement that I've read that seems to be said quite often.

yha and you get about the same output as a full swap for around a fourth of the price and like touring said its more boost friendly
