what kinda tig torch do you have? searching for a smaller torch.
So Im in the market for a new torch for my thermal arc 185sw. Im trying to get in very tight spaces, and the ck17 that came with the machine isnt cutting it. Im intrested in a torch like this one:

or something similar. Ive also seen some pencil looking torches, those would be nice too.. anyways, where online could I purchase a torch liek this? Ive been to cyberweld, welding depot, ramwelding cupply and a few others and dont see anything like this. any other places I can check out?
also, anyone care to post pics of what torches they are using?

Im using the WeldCraft WK17 with all the fancies on it(swivel ead, super flex line, etc.). I absolutely love it. It is still a number 17 torch, so the size isnt much smaller than normal, but Ive never not been able to get into the spots I need to. I have also used a number 20 size torch which is quit a bit smaller. I like it as well, but they dont handle the amerage as well. But then again, your projects may not require much amperage.
If you havnt already, you can check out tigdepot.com Dont think they show pictures, but you can call them and tell them what you want. Personally am extremely pleased with anything that comes from them, and have heard nothing but praise from fellow welders regarding there products and customer service. GOOD LUCK!

torches go up in size first, then go back down with water cooling.
It goes:
9 - 125 amp, small size
17 -150 amp, bigger size
20 -200ish amp, small size with cooling
I don't remember the bigger size that has cooling though.

9 and 20 share the same components and are roughly the same size. the only differenes is that the 9 is air cooled and the 20 is water.
17 and 18 is the same deal. the 18 is water cooled and the 17 is air.
the 18 is rated for 350amps
oh yeah and the standard 20 is 250 amp.

I have our Pro Mod '57 Fairlane coming to my place this weekend. Doing a couple things on it which includes, a tow point in the front end, driveshaft loop with shifter mount on top of that, a modification to the tailshaft mount for the tranny, as well as welding 4 new tabs to bolt the midplate to. I will try to take as many pictures as possible for you guys if thats what you want to see.
I dont have pictures of tight spots, because I rarely come to a point that is really tight. If it is, I pull the tungsten way out, and turn the gas way up
haha. Wastes gas I know but...very seldom do I need to do it.
