Clutch N Exhaust ?
Yes sir, I am having a clutch built for me at a local garage. Right after I bought my S my OEM POS clutch went out on me which cost about $2500 for new pressure plate and flywheel at Honda dealship. I think when I bought my S2000 they tightned everything so it wouldnt seem to have any problem when I test drove it, and walked off the lot with it but like 2 months later it was gone.
Now its completely gone again and I can let it out in gear, and it doesnt stall. The guy said at the garage that all these clutch kits from Japan or China that people are buying, and putting in there cars now dont hold up. They dont last and cant with stand the pressure and HP. He also said that when you buy these online, and if you dont put them in yourself, and take them to a local shop for install they cant back it up so if something goes wrong your f*ckd.
Therefore the guy is going to make me a personalize performance clutch, which he can back up 100% since its his own work.
Stock Exhaust ?.
/This is kind of off topic but for you S2000 junkies who know the car inside and out i got a question about the stock exhaust. If i take my resonater off, and put a 2.5' test pipe on there would that be harming anything. I know it will be a lot louder, but is it really good for the car to take off the resonater or catylic converter. I know it wont pass emissions but im not concerned about that. Before I spend money on low boost and exhaust in a few months I just want my S to sound a little bit louder than normal.
I appreciate you guys taking the time to read this, feel free to post your opinions on either topic.

Resonater and adding a 2.5' test pipe to bring out the loudness of the stock exhaust.
I'm trying to get opinions here on wheither or not in the long run taking it off is a wise choice.

Sounds to me like your clutch guy wants to give you a stiff pressure plate and a low wear disc. Hopefully your slave cylinder doesn't leak from it being too stiff.
No resonator and no cat on OEM exhaust sounds like poo to me but that's just me

$2500 for a dealership clutch you're gettin ripped a new A-hole. Parts costs $400, figure that one out.
If you're going to boost, get a good exhaust, unless you like buying two. Test pipes are annoying on anything but the tracks.

removing the resonator will not effect your car passing smog and it will give it a raspy sound... kinda like a 350Z.....
the clutch as Projekt said is less then 400... plus labor... so where ever you are getting this quote from DONT GO BACK THERE!
custom clutch????
thats a first for me... a stage1/2 is plently....

I think he threw in "custom" just to sound cool. I'm guessing it's a mix and match:
ACT Plate
Some fly wheel
OEM bearings
$2500 for t3h custom!!

the stock exhaust is twin looped i beleive, helping silence it more. a test pipe might help, but why not just buy a new exhaust? stock exhaust is heavy to boot.

Alright I really have to pick at this one. 1st off I don't mean to be a jerk here. $2500 to replace a clutch Where are you going? okay OEM is what like 400 and to install it its like 400. at most your paying 1000 bucks anymore and I feel bad for you. 2nd sounds like the guy working on your car hates imports b/c Japan or china clutchs don't hold up. haha Clutchs hold up If you get GOOD ones and Not Ebay... also Personalize performance clutch??? sweet if its 100% backed up and he will always replace it for free.... but better make sure its not just OEM with some sweet presure plate that cost the guy 400 bucks and you payed 600. but seems like your car is stock as of now and OEM is fine. 2nd when you buy a car from the dealership. they aren't going to take the time to remove the trans and tighten it....... Sorry thats the most crazy thing I heard.. you can't. I mean you could remove the flywheel and make sure everything is put to spec. but it would be so piontless to do all that work and not replace the clutch on that car. so sorry to say that car was fine when you got it but things break on cars its everyday life nothing is perfect and I'm sure you beat on your S2K a coupe of times. and maybe messed up its alright we won't tell. yes if something goes wrong on a aftermarket clutchs your f***** but make sure u get a good one and a good shop to install it unless you do it yourself like some of us.
Also Okay the exhaust.... it doesn't hurt the car you may get what check engine light b/c your O2 senor is reading all the wrong things b/c your cat isn't there and replaced with a test pipe and your exhaust is just free flowing with the smell of gas and CO2 coming out the back of your exhaust BTW I hate when driving behind buddys without a cat my eyes start to burn.... haha and that smell hahaha its sweet. anyways. yes and it will become louder. not to much but you will notice and you will also get alittle power. BUTTTTTTTTT the downside is that stock is so heavy also yea do some looking around about turbos.... Your not going to run stock with a turbo also if you do it right your going with 3' all the way back.... the HKS for the S2K sounds sick and also can be used for a turbo set up. your not going turbo and use stock exhaust pipeing at least.and SC you still need headers along with a bigger exhaust for better flow. its all about flow. just read more on this site its the most helpfull site ever. its the reason my post are so low I just Search topics and find everything I need to know.
and help out time to time. good luck.

Ok guys you have to understand that my stock clutch went out, so I had a new stock clutch put in along with a new flywheel and pressure plate(ALL OEM). All the labor was done at a honda dealership, and the price of labor there is very expensive. I'm taking your word for the price of stock clutches and labor, and I still cant figure out why they charged me $2500 for all three parts.
The guy at the shop said it shouldnt cost anymore than $600-1500 for a personalize clutch he will make for me.
About the exhaust I still dont know about taking my resonater off, and adding a testpipe I really dont want my check engine light coming on, and i dont want any strange **** coming out of my exhaust. So i think ill just leave it alone.
Yes I know what to get with my turbo setup in terms of exhaust man. Im not really new to that area I was just asking a question about the stock exhaust. No I wont be purshasing a HKS exhaust, thats one mistake I wont make 'J's Spoon Spugen' top 3 and my only 3. As for as the turbo setup I have said repeatidly I am purshasing LoveFab.
Thanks guys for your input on this particular situation.

This has nothing to do with inspections, and i would hope you wouldnt have to check up on anything with your new 05.
I decided not to mess around with the stock exhaust after all so no C02 and **** coming out my exhaust.

alright thats all understandable but haha heres what the cat does...
Nitrogen gas (N2) - Air is 78-percent nitrogen gas, and most of this passes right through the car engine.
Carbon dioxide (CO2) - This is one product of combustion. The carbon in the fuel bonds with the oxygen in the air. a poisonous gas that is colorless and odorless
Water vapor (H2O) - This is another product of combustion. The hydrogen in the fuel bonds with the oxygen in the air
Hydrocarbons or volatile organic compounds (VOCs) - produced mostly from unburned fuel that evaporates.
Nitrogen oxides(NO and NO2, together called NOx) - contributes to smog and acid rain, and also causes irritation to human mucus membranes
it does alot and what happens is all this just comes out the exhaust and the Nitrogen oxides make the persons eyes burn behind you. theres nothing Wrong with it. I have it done to my corvette and I love it and my friends old GSR had it done. who cares about a check engine light its only the CO2 senor and sometimes it doesn't read that anything is wrong. you'll just never pass any inspections but you don't care so
