Default J's Racing "Tsuchinoko" CF intake (close up pic)

Really pretty carbon fiber... but too expensive for my blood!

Does anyone have this on their car? The throttle response and midrange are supposed to be excellent...

I don't think they could have made that thing look any more phallic.

How much does that thing cost anyhow? Dare I ask?

"phallic" HAHAHAHAHAHA

I agree totally!!!

In Hong Kong and Taiwan, we call it the 'sausage' intake

I think it's around $240?

I don't have one "Yet" I'm going to try it out though. Maybe I can get one before I find my test car for the Intake test.

w/out dyno testing to actually SHOW what it really can do...
no ones gonna waste 240 to find out.

Its not always about #'s its also about Throttle response

curious..how is throttle response measured?
you are right..it's not always about numbers...
just before the ls/vtec craze hit...most of the fastest all motor cars hittin 11's
had about 190-200 whp...
while most of the 10 second hondas were turbo and had like 500 whp or some crazy high number.

my friend has a carbon fiber dash kit...*shrugs*

is there anything to show for proving that this intake actually works?
or are we just assuming that just because it's carbon fiber and from japan...
that it "must work?!?"

I Don't assume, Throttle response can only be measured by the person driving the car.

Actually, to be honest, I've tried the cheaper, regular plastic version of this intake, and it is quite good. Excellent throttle response and midrange power... much better than any filter on a stick or cold air intake. It's a great piece for circuit racing.

But you're right, unless you have a fetish for carbon fiber, 200+ big ones is a lot to pay to just 'find out'

*sheepishly raises hand*...oh well...i needed a new intake and wanted to try something different. yasu/racingcraft(can't say enough good things about him) recommended the c/f intake for US cars with A/C hot off the press...so he aired one in for me from J's....yasu was right, i like it...

This J's " Sausage" Intake are used on our 2 race DC-2 this year. We havn't test it on the track however, we have tested on the street and TB response was pretty good.

Circuit setups are more depends on mid-range and response so this maybe not very good for DRAG but who knows before they try them in a drag strip.

The middle part of the sausage (expanded part) is to hold a volume of air so when you back up your throttle and raise the throttle again you will feel the rpm picking up faster.

Actually, thanks for pointing that out! Credit should be given where it's due

Taiwanese track racers have known how good this setup is for years, but I guess because of the general stereotype that Taiwanese products are junk, no one would accept it until the Japanese accepted it first
