Default 96-97 vs. 98-up JDM ITR engines

I'm thinking about buying a JDM ITR motor. Is there any difference within the motors from the 96-97 and 98-up JDM ITR motors? Minor or major differences please. Plus, do I need the axels, motor mounts, distributor, ect. Or can i use my exsisting ones I have a 95 LS. Thanks!

Off the top of my head I know the 98+ has 4-1 header, while 96-97 has a 4-2-1 header. Don't quote me, but I believe 98+ JDM ITR has cams that are the same as the US Spec '00+, which is same as CTR.

I know you asked about motors, but if you are getting the drivetrain swap, the 98+ ITR has shorter gears than the 96-97, since the 98+ has the 4.785 final drive.

You will need the distributor too, since the LS one won't work. Axles from LS would work. Motor mounts are the same too.

OBD conversion is not hard at all if you motor comes with UN CUT wiringg haraness just plug them in like you would a a OBD1 to OBD1 swap you wil have one plug left over on the passanger side its for the crank sensor you dont need it
