GSR vs Rota - Pics
I'm trying to make up my mind about getting GSR fat fives or Rota Slipstreams. I'll leave it up to you, but the GSR's are much cheaper.
Oh yeah, I jacked all these from the pic thread. I sifted through 10 pages. If you have a problem with me putting your car up here, let me know and I'll take it down. Even though it was in the pic thread.

GSR's all the way
all I know about powder coating is that there was a shop back where I used to live called Ace Powder Coating that could handle all of your powder coating needs, so check the phone book or something, there has to be someone that does powder coating.

The OEM rims I have on my Teg came out of a Junkyard and were all gashed and the coating was peeling all over the place
$80 for the rims and decent tires
I sanded down the rims with a "rust removing" disk for my drill. Cover your face with a mask because you will have black bugers for a couple of days, and you don't want to breathe in that **** anyway! Both of these Item were purchaced at WalMart
I took me about 8 man hours over a couple days cuz my arms got worked taking off all that crap! I Then washed then off with soap and water, touched up some areas and the used about half a can of clear coat on each rim. That was more than a year ago and they still look good, and come out clean after I clean off all the slush and snow

My bias from owning Slipstreams aside...
Am I the only one who thinks Teg and Accord rims look ugly as sin on a CRX? They look so out of place that I don't know how anyone can think OEM, not too mention looking kind of cheap and tacky. If you like the look of them on your own car, power to you, I just don't understand why they're so popular.
Slipstreams on the other hand, well, everyone has them these days, takes some of the fun out of having them. Functionaly though, they're probably lighter than the GSR rims, so they get my vote for that.

I could care less if everyone has them. I think they look better and without a doubt are lighter. I wnet and polished mine

i did not go too far with these cause I did not want them to look chrome or anything. Leave kinda a machined look.

if you paint them i say go for the cheaper gsr ones, but the look they have is just to FAT. but the gsr ones painted white looked alright. i painted my stock 14" del sol wheels. i put them on my civic and i think they look pretty nice.

Def get the rotas, I had black ones and I hit a curb, so I had half silver scuffed lips. Anyway I just painted them bronze and they look sick as expletive, im amazed w/ the results.
rotas are wider and probably have a better offset than stock GSR rims. and are of course lighter. no comparison.
slipstreams are the only rotas id suggest anyway. all others seem to have cracking issues, especially the thin spoke ones like sub zeros and c8. ymmv.

I guess it depends on what you're going for....
Everyday driving: Fat 5's all the way, they just look sick
Racing: Rotas all the way. I personally love the look of the rotas, but like many people have said, they are just over done. And that's why I'm looking at sub zero's instead of the slips.
If I had the money, I would get 'em both and just switch as I felt the need.

fat fives are 6" wide, and rotas are 6.5" wide, which is much better suited for a 205 series tire (GSRs come with 195/55/15). rotas are wider, lighter, and you have a much better tire selection with 205/50/15s.
I'd get the rotas unless the gsrs are *really* cheap.

You can also get a 7'' wide slip stream.
I vote slipstreams
Just don't have them stolen off your car like I did.

rota (more performace orented in mine)... depending on the car color, the machined look or black looks best. I don't really like the fat 5's... i like the swerlies better.
Theft is an issue I've been thinking about. I'm going to be in Charlotte, NC, and if you've heard of it you know its a big city (with big crime). If I get either, I'm going to be running 2 sets of wheel locks. I just dont want to be advertizing for someone to come steal my car. The GSR's would probably steer away petty theves, but if someone knows what their talking about, GSR's are a target too.

. 16" yum.
