DIY THE BEST WAY TO GET YOUR WINDOW CRANK OFF!!!!!!
I you guys are like me, then you hate taking off door panels because they always get dorked up from prying etc. Well I figured out a new way to get the job done on almost any car with manual windows.

Here is the problem. You can never get a screw driver between the door panel and the crank without breaking or scratching somthing.

This is the only tool you need. Just a common shop rag. No special tools from the dealer are needed.

This is a two step action. The first step is carfully "flossing" the shop rag behind the window crank.

This is the second step. After you get it into position like so, all you have to do is give it a quick jerk down and it will snag the clip and pop it right off.

This is the end result for all your hard work! You no longer have to screw up you mint door panels when you need to get inside the door.
I know it isn't a CRX in the photos but it will work on just about any car.
Let me know what you guys think.

nice. i made one by cutting a 5 inch section of wire clothes hanger and bending it like an L. works good and i don't scratch anything, but yours looks like a good idea too. I'll try it next time and compare
Nice... my Haynes manual says to do that... I'm not cool enough for the Helms yet. I tried the rag trick and it's annoying and not too easy to get the rag into proper position, so I just have a long strip of chicken wire that I've twisted into loops at both ends... all I do then is just gently pull back on the handle, slide the loops over the clip on either side, then yank down on the wire. Works every time...

I use a fork. I just bend the middle two stems about 1/8 of inch and just slide it down in their. It acts like a hook and yes I keep a fork in my tool box just for that.

i used to use those aftermarket stereo hooks shaped kinda like a U to pull the clip out. but a screwdriver or plier will do fine, i dont see the need for making a big deal about it.
as for getting it back in, just put the clip in the handle fully engaged, then push the handle back on the spindle. locks into place.
