VAFC Installation - Tuning
Who all has installed a VAFC? is it pretty straightforward? Any site online with an install walk-through, and will i be able to set it at all without a dyno? i wont be able to get to a dyno for about a month and id like to install it and set it up if possible now and then fine tune it later. tia

If you have a service manual its simple but dont use APexi's diagrams. They try to lump all cars into 4-5 configurations.
No. Install and leave everything at 0%. You can move Vtec around but thats about it till the dyno.

I installed one on my 97 Ex and it was pretty straight forward, except i had to use the pinouts for the 97+ prelude because the accord pinouts werent even close. Also, the vafc on an accord is pretty useless, vtec kicks in at 2500 from the factory. The lowest you can set it on a vafc is 3000. Unless your adding fuel for a turbo or something along those lines, the vafc isnt worth a damn on a NA accord.

yes it switches off the idle lobe at 2500 to go onto the mid lobe, and the hi-cam activation is a 5250 rpm, and its lowest point is 3000 k because that is when the oil pressure is at least 50 psi any lower and the lobes would not switch over.
As it for being useless, hardly, my car would much slower if it wasnt for getting on thew hi-cam at 3500

Just what "kicks in" at 2500? It's not the VTEC cam xover, that's for damn sure.
