Anyone found a solution to Skunk2 throttlebody Sticking??
Has anyone found a solution to the problem the skunk2 throttlebodies have about sticking when you come to a stoplight? im running a 68mm and am tired of people thinking im revving on them when i snap my throttle to get my car to idle at 700 instead of 1.5-2K

I got the 68mm as well..but havent tested it out yet...hopefully I dont have the same problem...someone on here though has the same one and a screw that holds the butterfly flap on fell off and went down between his head and pistons while he was on the dyno.....broke a couple of valves and a damaged piston..

Hmmm called Skunk2, they said to send it back, at my expense of course. They gave me an RMA number and said to write it all voer the box and send it to them. The girl I talked to said to include my phone number and address, as soon as they recieved it they would call me, to let me know they got it and send me a new one or fix it. I sent it Sept 8th. UPS confirmed they recieved it Sept. 12th. They never called that week. I finnally called them the next week on Sept. 18th. they looked up my RMA, said they had it and that'd i'd have to talk to Jim but he was busy. They said call back later that day and ask for Jim. I did, he was at lunch, i left him a message, he never called. more....................
So I called the next day, he was in a meeting so i left him a message through whoever answered the phone. He never called back. I had a High Performance driving day on October 2nd and really wanted to make sure I had it before then. Since I switched to my stock throttle body my idle was bouncing from 1500 - 2500, my car was undrivable. Nothing that week, I caleld the next week to see if it could be 2day shipped to me at my expense since I really needed it before the coming weekend, to put it on and have it for the driving school I paid $800 for. I left a message about 2 daying it for Jim to whoever answered me when I called on the 25th. He never called back. I called again on the 26th and left a message on Jim's personal Voicemail. I explained that my car doesn't like the stock throttle body and that I really really really needed the skunk2 in order to have my car for the driving school on the 2nd. He never called. During that week we figured out a way to make my car semi drivable. The reason the idle was so bad was because my stock throttle body was gasket port matched by Blacktrax to the Skunk2 68mm TB. When I put the stock one on there was a gaping hole in the intake manifold letting air in that caused the horrible idle. So I had to make a custom gasket that covered the exposed area and do the FICV workaround. This allowed my idle to bounce from a more manigible 1000-1500rpms. It's been about a month now and i havent heard from Jim or anybody at Skunk2, my driving school was yesterday, i was able to take my car and it was blast sitting in between driving exercises with my engine going vvvvvvvvvvrrrrrrmmmmmmm, vvvvvrrrrrrrrrrmmmmmmmmmm, veeeerrrrroooommmmm etc. Should I just consider my throttle body gone for good???? I started reading posts on here about Skunk2 and how horrible their customer service is. It sucks cause the girl I talked to when i first called was great and i was feeling really good about Skunk2. I'm in the market for cams and valvetrain and was all excited about their buyback deal and all that. But now it's like WTF, it's like they just took my throttle body. I can understand if sopmeone would call me and say something at all about it. But a month and nothing??? Very sad of a company that well known. I'll just hope for the best I guess.
Called them again, they said they recieved back way more T/Bs than they were expecting and thats causing the long delays. She said they want to make sure they get it right so theres no more recalls. They should prolly just buy a bunch of BDLs and rebadge them, they look exactly the same cept. the BDLs work right. There's nothing I can do now, track days ahve come and gone, the cars going int owinter storage soon so oh well. I guess its patience time.

did this t/b make any of you guys throttle hard to push cause of the damn spring they used? also my t/b has the same problem with idle
can anyone show me where you need to polish to stop the sticking at closed idle... ???
i have a sneaky suspicion skunk and RPM come out of same factory as they look identical and have the same issue

It will be somewhere around the plate when it's closed
I had the same issue with my 68mm RPM, but a little sanding with fine grit paper and then a scotch brite pad did the trick for me. I could see some spots in the alu. body that the plate had been rubbing against, so it wasn't to hard to figure out where I had to some work.

I'm sorry you have had a bad experience with Skunk2 so far, but honestly, their customer service has come a LONG way.
When I had an 'issue' with one of their camshafts, they were nothing but helpful throughout the entire process.
Politely give them a call, and ask them to explain to you what exactly they are doing to solve the problems you are experiencing.
In my experience, it is better to deal directly with the company, rather than going on Honda-Tech and crying about how Company A is screwing you over.
People inside Skunk2 may not post, but they definitely have eyes on this forum.
