Default What Things Can I Do To A Stock Block GSR Motor?

I'm thinking of going the all motor route since I went turbo twice in my last two cars.

I wanted to keep the block stock , but I wanted to do lots of head work.

ANy suggestions on what i can do.

I was thinking TWM Itbs, RMF Header, PnP head, thinner headgasket??, some very agressive cams, valve spring retainers, and a Tune.

All motor is very new to me, so any response and feedback is greatly appricated.

i dont know why you want to keep the block stock but it hinders your potential power drastically. for example with stock rods i dont think you can rev past say 8500, and with stock pistons you cant get enough compression to run any worthwhile cams. This is just my opinion and it really depends on your power goals tho. if you dont want more than ~190hp than youd be ok with the stock block. what are your power goals and budget?

power is in the head. ull be fine with a stock block if its in healthy condition. there are people here who rev to 9k daily on a stock block with a mild cam setup.

i would not do itb's if staying stock bottom, wont be worth it money wise, or performance. a nice header as noted, like a bc3+, or sk2 stg 1 cam, springs/retainer combo, a sk2, blox, aebs intake mani, cam gears and a nice tune would be a nice setup.

a cam any larger than this would not yeild any more power due to the low compression, but u could cut the head, and a thinner headgasket, or even flat faced valves would help get that compression up, then u could run a more agressive cam. good luck , keep the questions comming

so i was thinking that to take those cams to their full potential youd need high compression

Big cams will make more power with out raising compression as long as you have a good intake and exhaust and head work. I have seen stock block b18c run real strong with S2S2 cams which are fairly big cams. Sure it will run better with more cr but you don't have to do it. It's all about breathing and cams are part of that equation. Dan

Ported head and intake mani, larger tb, intake with a velocity stack, skank pro series cams/buddy club/jun/toda/blox etc. aftermarket valvetrain with flat faced valves, milled head, thinner headgasket, GOOD header n exhaust. you'll need a good tuner n engine builder.

what numbers are you guys thinking with that setup?

how about a ITB seutp vs a victor x or something...

I'm really lost on this all motor stuff.
