Default Climate Control Replacement - How Hard Is It? Other Options! ALL JOIN

Well what appeared to be a tiny crack on my climate face and I wanna gonna fix it with CRX-Toads little face thing turned into a 2 piece climate control, split right beside the temp ****, the 2 wires broken.

This unit is a write off

I dunno what to do, is it hard to install a new factory one? What has to be done really? My dash is apart now so I wanna do it now if possible

Or are there other cars that i can pull a control from and use them? EASILY!!!

I dunno what to do, need help, I should left the ******* thing

I knew my climate was cracked but I didnt think when I went and tried to pull it out it would split right inhalf, so now its in pieces on my floor

I dunno what to do, I just read a thread where to install youre faceplate thing and the guys was broken just as bad but his wires didnt break, which mine did

I dunno if I should just trash it and fill the hole with soemthing else or if its worth the effort to fix it

Well please don't trash it. They are useful to piece other climate controls together. Are you able to solder the wires back?

You should see my climate control bro. Mine is actually split in two different places. After several set screws, silicone, crazy glue applications and a new faceplate, it looks great and works like a charm!!! I had to take it apart to replace the bulbs, solder those two wires back, brace the temp control **** section by filling the gap with stiff clear silicone. The damn clips that hold the cables broke on me. Fixed that with crazy glue and silicone. Even the geared wheel for the temp selector was broken!!! I sacrificed a perfectly good EF civic one so that the CRX one could be resurrected. Turns out that the civic geared wheel has more bracing on top, so it's less likely to break. ;D

I was looking for another CRX climate control but they are becoming harder to find and the prices keep going up.

it was tedious when i had to figure out all the wiring on my own. Not too bad though, i think it's more than worth it to have newer looking controls that don't break as easy. Soon i'm going to see if there is a clean way to change the illumination in them from aqua to white or amber. Probably have to remove blue coloring from inside each button so i'm going to practice on a spare set before i risk ruining these.

did you make a wiring scheme for that FAQ too?
Also, can you de-pin these plugs just like ECU and engine plugs?

I had a crack in mine and I decided to remove it to patch it up. It was very difficult to remove, and I broke it into five peices in the process because the old plastic is brittle and the fit is very tight. I got it all epoxied back together, though, and it looks and works normal now, the cracks show, but it does not rattle.

Good ones sell for around $80-100. Sometimes more. Even the Civic ones are selling for a lot on ebay. People are selling them as CRX climate controls though.

There is ALOT of info on how to do stuff yourself in THIS forum under the
CRX & Civic FAQ Version 2.0 thread

My accord climate install is under the do it yourself.

SET120 You might be able to remove the pins in the plugs but i don't thing the clips are the same size. I know for sure the plugs aren't.

How you mount the unit and the air-mix and heater cables are really up to you. I did mine just like in my write-up and have had no problems since. And my A/C works great too.

Any problems and i'll be glad to help.
