Default Very 1st post! AEM EMS?

Hey guys....I am kinda new as far as being a member. Actually, I've been a browser geek for the last year just searching for answers to my questions and I guess I can say I've been successfull up until now. I recently purchased a brand new Aem Ems for my 94 dc2 and I went to Aem's website to register so I can have access to their base maps but its currently not working. Is it just me or are they just not finished with their site? Has anyone else attempted to register? thanks

98psi- How did you manage to connect your computer to the ecu? I've had the ecu for a week now and to this day I'm having trouble connecting. I've got a laptop with windows xp and I've tried every com1-4 port and it still won't connect. I also had to go out and purchase a serial to usb port adapter just to plug up the ecu to the damn laptop? Any ideas? thanks

hate to **** on your parade, but XP does not allocate certain programs to correspond with serial ports. XP is **** when it comes to using to program my Zdyne. I have the same problem so I just formatted the whole drive and installed millenium which seems to work. It's still unstable as hell but, I will eventually return to Win98. I would reccomend you install at least millenium or 98. HTH

I'm no XP expert but if that is true that sucks. I would just check and see if that port is in use, usually com 1 is what it likes. I had a hotsync on com1 and it didn't like that. Took the hotsync off com1 and started up the EMS just fine.

yeah I have xp pro, the serial port is com1, if you have anything else in that port, like a digital cam, you have to remove the properties for that cam in the control panel xp will not let two devices have the same port or com number at the same time. I have to do the same thing when I switch between the joystick to a steering wheel on my computer.

I was reading these posts and am concerned by the lack of the ability you have in communicating with our ECU. We have 2 laptops with XP and they work fine with the AEMPro software. We have found that in most cases there is a conflict with the port that causes the no com problem. I would check the following: On earlier versions of the AEMPro software, we had a baud rate selection that defaulted to 9600 instead of the 34800 that is required. Also the com port selection has to agree with your computer. If you continue to have problems please call JP at AEM on the toll free number provided in your system
