Default Calling all AEM EMS users

I have an AEM EMS 1020 model for my 96 GS-R. I tried to hook it up last nite and the ECU will never go online. I do get the COMMS INITIALISED response however the ECU is still offline. Yes I do have the key to the 'on' position. I called tech support this morning and Josh was cool enough to offer a replacement chip. I didn't live too far from their headquarters, so I swinged by and picked up a replacement EPROM. I replaced the old one and got the same results. I'm pretty upset I can't even get the car working let alone the ECU itself. I do follow their own message boards, however not many people know about it so the response time wouldn't be so fast if I were to post there. I do plan on posting there, but I'm hoping one of you guys could give me a hand. Mase from here already gave me a hand, thanks to my friend Stan (Flamenco-T).

Once again, if you guys could help I would really appreciate it. I'm about to punch a hole in the wall.

I run the same one and havent had any problems yet. But a bump for ya cause I know how hard it is to find help on it. Otherwise once you get it set up you'll love it.

you can also try using a USB to serial if in doubt, those seem to work well.

I'm going to switch laptops to single out who's not working properly.

The weird thing is COM1 on the laptop is dedicated to the only serial port, on the other hand the AEM PRO only recognizes COM3.

Good to hear that's a possibility. I've been trying to get a hold of another laptop but my brother's being a ****. So I guess I'll have to wait tomorrow. Oh and I did run down to Best Buy and got a usb-serial adapter, that didn't work either.

Just make sure you do try each com port to make sure which one it is connected too.

Alright guys, I got the car running!

Turns out Dells are **** for brains when it comes to serial ports. So I borrowed my friends 300mhz amd-k6 laptop and it synched up no problem. Car feels 34534534 times better than the V-AFC hack.

Thanks again to everyone who helped out.

Cool, I am basically running close to the same setup. I am running the DRAG kit on a built C5 block with 9.6:1 pistons. Good luck with you car.

Nice setup.

I didn't go WOT on this base map. At one point I saw my EGT shoot to 1650F so settled down after that.

yeah thats WAY to high. I keep my EGT under 1300 when I am just messing around and it might hit like 1400 when I am really getting on it but I dont let it stay that high for more then like 15 secs at a time.
