Where can I buy the most accurate/reliable Tire pressure gauge?
on me for trying to be stylish. That Digital Tire Pressure gauge failed me more than once. First, it's hard to get readings without leaking some air, and it's never accurate with readings off by upto 5 psi!Where can I pick up some accurate gauges? Any brandname to keep for a look?
Transducers which are used on digital guages are often temperature sensitive. (Especially the cheaper ones.)That is, the zero point will fluctuate with temperature changes. If you dont zero it each time (or if you can't) you wont be able to get an accurate reading.
Was the guage actually reading zero at zero?
I think the mechanical (bourdon tube, bellows assembly ect) style are more reliable and more accuate (when you factor in cost) that the digital ones.
Do these things specify acuracy? Typical instrument accuracies fall in the .1% - .25% of full scale. So for a 0-100 psi guage that would be +/- .1 - .25 psi
Keep in mind too, that most dial face guages (bourdon tube) are most accurate in the middle 1/3 of its scale. Outside of that range, percentage can be double of the specified value.

IF you local shop doesn't have any, check out http://www.pitstopusa.com. I own a Quickcar model. It has a swivel head & bleeder valve.
The ten dollar dial gauge I bought at Auto Zone is apparently quite accurate. I checked it against my fancy Racer Parts Wholesale ($35) gauge and they read the same at 20, 35, 50 and 80.
Don't remember the brand but I'm pretty sure I got it at an Advance Auto Parts store.

Actually I think it was within the last week or two this very same question was asked; yet I still couldn't find it with infamous search.
I bought an Accugage from Pep Boys... it seemed to read 5 pounds different from a friend's Racer Wholesale gauge and another guy's Longacre. Then it totally crapped out and was like 20 pounds off. I bought a Longacre for $25.
Here it is: https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=145287
It's got the link to the one befor that in it as well.

I always zero in before another reading..but the deviation is like 2-3 pounds. So I really can't trust that thing...especially I have to fist tight its upper rubber end to prevent air escape. I'll definetly look into some Pep Boy stuff and the Longacre will be primary target as most ppl refer it quit a few times here.
Thanks for da help.

Also, in reality, consistency is far more important than accuracy. Your gauge could be 10 PSI off everyone else in the world, and as long as you know that, and it reads consistently, it will still do the job just fine.

Something tells me that the one before that isn't the first either.
BTW, I second Longacre. I just upgraded in the last few weeks, and I love it. And it glows...you know...for the ladies
