CrAzY Question. . . about the Bumper Pole. . .
Hey.
Yeah so how do you wire the thing? It has one red and one black wire, then one yellow and one yellow/red wire. I got the thing to come up and down but just because I rigged it and then reversed the current.
Just wondering if anyone else has hooked one up and could lend a tip.

Well in general red is power and black is ground. yellow stuff might be signals for a relay.
What is a bumper pole. I am lost.

It's a little pole that sticks out of your front bumper to help you park.

Yeah what he said. Lots of people call it 'stupid.' I just think it'd be cool to have to get people talking. When I mention it to people around here they're just like 'wtf never heard of it.'
I thought what he said about red+ and black- but when I tried it like this, nothing happened. I touched the yellows one at a time to pos and neg terminal and nothing. When I ran the yellows as + and - I got a reaction. The thing came alive and I now know that I have a green top, but I'm not sure if it lights up or not.

are all the wires equally thick?
have you trie red to pos, black to ground. Keep them there and then touch on o fht yellows to pos?

actually, generally, Yellow is usually a CONSTANT POSITIVE SOURCE and the red is the REMOTE POSITIVE SOURCE...... black is a given.... thank you buh bye

Your talking in general car audio terms... factory wires don't apply.

Well we know a few things...
The pole has to get power to the motor for up and down motion, the pole has to go to the switch, and the pole's green light has to get power too.

Word that!
Yeah I just thought if someone knew for sure I wouldn't need to Trial&Error it, but I don't mind figureing it out if I have to.

Ok for anybody that is paying attention-
It seems as if the red and black wires are for the LED and only for the LED. Mine lights up green btw.
The two yellow wires control the up-down motor. IF you hook them up one way, the pole goes up. If you reverse polarity, the pole goes back down. It looks like it won't be hard to install except for hiding the motor part and the tube in the bumper. That will be tricky but doesn't look impossible. I might have to remove one of the pieces of plastic/styro behind the bumper to make it work.
Hope this helps one person.

satisfied my curiosity. Looks like you need a special switch or a mini controler.

Yes I guess the bumper pole switch, when wired correctly, is something like the sunroof switch. . . in that it is 'momentary contact' (like the horn too I guess, but with more options) and NOT like the power fold button on the side mirror switch.
But yeah mine is from the accord and it looks like I'll be able to do a cleeeean install with just a 1/2" auger maybe. I'm not going to do the install until after I remove the bumper for sanding. see I have too much going on, trying to paint 2 cars at the same time with limited facilities. But I am going to remove the bumpers, hood, and fenders to do their paint. . . anyway thats a different story.
Check this forum for pics of my JDM headlight install.
