Default Former Civic owners

I have a Civic with a GSR swap and am pretty close to buying an S2000. I was wondering if any of you on here have gone from a hybrid Civic to the s2k and what you think about it. Are you glad you did it?

I had a swapped civic. They are totally different beast though. But if it was a apple to apple comparitive look I'd go with the S2 anyday of the week. Alot more fun to drive. You will have to get used to the rear drive and the fact that steering is quirky but wonderful once you get a handle on what makes it tick.

Best advice I can give is get track time with it and get an instructor if there is one available. It is worth it. I used to track my civic alot but the S is way different in handling and overall approach.

Hope this helps.

i have a swapped hatch that i track and use as a beater.

civic pros: disposable, cheap, fast, good gas mileage
civic cons: not gonna get you any girls, rattles, theft, fwd
s2000 pros: sexy, rwd, convertible
s2000 cons: pricey, gas mileage, tiny

if you can own both, do it, cause you'll miss the utility of the hatch.

It's kinda sad, but my S gets better mileage than my Accord did.

Back OT: I had a CRX with a D16 "swap", low boost garbage turbo. It was cheap, fun, and even a bit quicker than my S is now. I'd still take the S anyday though.

i agree.

that's why i have both
but it's night and day when i go from one car to the other... s2k is so much more refined, and like somoene said before, the way the car handles, power delivery, handling, etc... is totally different.

which is better? both

Word. I'd drive a stock S2K over a swapped Civic anyday.

Ive had 3 civics over the years (JRSC EM1, b16 ED6, and built B16 ED9) and the S2k is by far the most fun ive had in a honda. I loved all my civics and definitely had a great time in them, but none can match the way the s2k feels bone stock.

I personally felt (after owning an S2000) that swapped civics were simply boring. Something about front wheel drive cars, even with high power, just does nothing for me...i mean there are some quick civics, but really, once you drive an actual performance car, you'll understand then why most people sway away from the civics and integras of the world once they've owned an actual sports/performance car.

I still have my swapped hatch. I find it very hard to part with it. But once my s13 boost project gets off the ground, it might be something I might have to consider. S2K good for cruising, hatch good for beating on at the track.

my friend used to have an ls integra boosted, and he traded it in for an 04 S, and at first i thought he was nuts as i had just boosted by B16 eg. But then he let me drive it, and now id trade my hatch, and cash any day for an S.

Had a fully built b18c-r in my Sol. You're comparing apples to oranges. Hands down the s2000 is a different class of car all together.

i had a 00 civic with a type r swap in it ... few mods ... and the s2k is right there with it in terms of speed ... as for handling and the looks ... it cant be compared ... only thing im seeing negative is im scared to do anything to it in fear i might break something or regret what i did ... prices are a lil higher too ... and not as easy to find ... as for the gas mileage .. i get the same with my S as i did with my modded civic ... get the S you will love it

Thanks. I drove an 02 yesterday for about 30 minutes. I really loved it and pretty much have my mind made up to get one. I appreciate all the input. It sure is a whole different beast handling wize, really fun.

Props to Honda-tech

I had an eg with b18c swap... sold it and got the S, one year later got another hatch. I have both now, the S isn't the greatest dd. In terms of power you can't really compare the S to a hatch with a built motor, plus parts for civics are dirt cheap. If you drive a lot, don't sell your civic. you'll regret it later on

I'd rather drive an S2000 daily than a lowered modified civic...ride quality, though brash because its a sports car, is leaps and bounds better than a lowered honda civic or integra.

I had a 3oo+ hp civic and went into a s2ooo. Then only think I miss is the torque steer when full boost hits with VTEC

i hated torque steer.....my honda car cycle went...ef (d16y7 + boost) then dg (b16) then s2k. I will not miss them, except for the practicility and the gas mileage.

I came from an '00 Civic Si with boltons, a CRX with a built all motor B16, a GS-R with bolt ons, and a Type-R with bolt ons.

Honestly, I'm thinking of going back, you might find my S for sale as soon as next week.

The S2000 is an amazing car, I've never felt anything like it. RWD is fun, the handling characteristics of the car are like clockwork, very fun to drive. It's pretty quick, nothing crazy, but it's certainly not slow. Convertables are awesome, too.

The only reason I'm going back (and this may help you with your decision) is that I'm a 20 year old college student. My car is paid for (I bought it cash) and so is school (I have my parents to thank for that), but money is tight for me as I can only work part time and the S isn't exactly cheap. Gas milage isn't that great, and I'm always worried about breaking something. I don't beat on it at all, if I were to mis-shift or do something stupid I would be screwed because I wouldn't have the $$ to fix it. I can't really afford to do anything to it and pay insurance at the same time, I've amassed a handful of parts in the past couple weeks but I'm working so much I haven't had time to put them on

Not to mention practicality, I live in NY, Long Island to be specific...and I don't have a daily driver. If it snows, I'm stuck at home

The 2 seater thing is great, that's never bothered me about a car, (not my first 2 seater).

I'm thinking of either buying another Integra and boosting it, but I don't want to get a car and dump a bunch of money into it.

First thing's first, I'm selling all the parts I bought. If I keep the S it's going to remain bone stock.

Hope I helped, if it didn't at least writing all that down helped me
