lsvtec parts list (help me out please)
Ok im looking at putting together a lsvtec turbo engine this year i have a budget of about 5-6000CAD or so for the engine itself. (after i make the engine i have to install it + have a manual conversion done on my car)
my total budget is 8000-9000 for the complete engine + transmission + swap.
I want to know how much it will cost me? (if my budget will allow me to do this project?)
what my goals are:
250-300whp
140+ ft/lb/tq
basically i want to smoke my friends TL :D that is what drove me to wanting to do this project.
i need to compile a parts list of what i need to assemble to get this project in motion
(before starting, i need to say this is my first major engine project of my life, and i have done a lot of research, but not too many people make turbo lsvtec engines, they all just make them na?)
https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=174153 i read this post, and i like what it is saying, however i believe these are all for N/A application, whereas i want turbo
i have decided LSvtec over crvtec because i hear it will cost a little less,
i need to know what i need to get to get this project started,
i have read, and im not looking for hand outs its just that i am a little lost, and dont know the technical jargon that the majority of the posts regarding the lsvtec turbos have in them.
please, any help would be greatly appreciated

Do i need these items!?!?! for my swap!?!?!?
OBD1 DOHC VTEC distributor
VTEC solenoid with a brand new VTEC oil pressure switch in it
Integra Type R 68mm throttle body
B16A2 valve cover
Golden Eagle LSVTEC dowel pins
GSR timing belt
GSR cam seals(2)
GSR water pump
GSR OBD2 oil pump
B16A2 SI valve cover
VTEC solenoid gasket

B16A2 valve cover
Golden Eagle LSVTEC dowel pins
GSR timing belt
GSR cam seals(2)

GSR OBD2 oil pump
B16A2 SI valve cover
VTEC solenoid gasket
here is what i did:
b16 head, stock valvetrain with gsr cams
b18a block. had it decked, hot tanked and bored/honed to 81.5mm
stock crank with a micropolish (why not hehe)
eagle ls rods with arp2000 rod bolts
wiseco low compression pistons
b16 waterpump and oil pump
gsr timing belt
gsr headstuds( i used arp gsr studs)
ls headgasket
the following parts from golden eagle(dowel pins, sandwich plate and vtec oil feed line)
i replaced every seal and bearing in the motor. no better time than now do to this.

You could have searched and easily found all the info you need. You use the timing belt that matches your water pump, vtec = 22 teeth, non vtec = 19 teeth. OBD1 and OBD2 oil pumps are different, get the one that matches your block. And with $8-9K you could definitely have more power than 250-300hp, you just have to research more.

WTF??? I wasnt being mean at all, anyway this is probably one of the most popular topics for questions on this entire site. I did my entire LS/vtec swap with info from this site. I could have just told him to search, period-->

wtf is that? ive read all 84 results, ive been on numberous other sites ie. torontointegras, torontocivicsclub, torontostreet racing, 1320drag, honda-tech, and i am still so lost, im spinning in circles here.
i want to use turbo because i love the sound (i hear w/ turbo u need lower compression?) is this true?
i was looking at https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=174153 and was thinking of doing the "medium or wild" block + a medium top??? would this work well with a turbo!?!?!?! anyone got any ideas or can help me?
my total budget is 8000-9000 installed into my car for this project (thats canadian 8k-9k)
in addition to just the motor i must also purchase a tranny + ecu with this money, and also have my car converted from automatic to manual.
all this must be accomplished on my budge, so as you can see my money is fairly restrictive on what i can do, and all i want is best bang for your buck, and with only 84 posts..... and ive read all of them, i cant seem to find exactly what im looking for, so i decided to make my own post to find more specific answers from people with first hand knowledge.
any help would be great. please forgive me if i have somehow affended anyone, i really did try to search, its jsut that its a little restrictive? maybe im searching wrong or something?

ok you are basically starting from scratch. dont take offense to this, but you might be better off finding a car with a swap and suspension done already. from there all you need is a turbo setup. it might be much less hassle and less time

i must agree with him,sell your car,buy a manual car with an ls swap,buy a vtec head,ge ls/v conversion kit,all pumps,turbo kit..should be waayyy cheaper

just got a new paintjob, all rust was cut out and new sheet metal was welded in, body and frame are solid, dont want to risk finding a **** box w/ rust and frame dmg.
i know whati have i like what i have, so i figure ill just stick with what i have :D thanks for the advice tho.

like someone else on one of the other 4 sites you posted this same question said, just turbo a LS forget the vtec, especially with your budget.
$4000 - b18b installed and swapped to manual
$4000 - turbo kit and install
$1000 - tuning
This is in canada land don't forget. **** is more expensive up here.
You could definately get the turbo kit for less if you peice it together or buy used parts but if you want a nice, clean, complete setup just get a brand new kit, so you don't have to worry about buying crap parts.
I would also highly recommend changing the timing belt and water pump and getting a decent clutch while the engine/tranny is out.

so you think my best bet would be to go with a b16 engine and just turbo it?
then no vtec correcT?
i could always just motor it until i find the money to slap a turbo on it.
i was thinking of maybe following this set up.
LSVTEC Setup:
BLOCK:
B18B1
84mm bore
Golden Eagle Sleeves
Endyn 9:1 Pistons
Eagle Rods
GSR Oil
GSR Water Pumps
arp bolts
arp head studs
HEAD no idea? wanna help me out?
can anyone price this out for me? i would rather over build, and have a nice solid setup then ghetto rig it. if need be ill wait an extra year for the turbo, i should still rake in almost 180-190 whp off the motor no? that should satisfy me for a year or so i think?

im doing ls vtec
b18a1:
benson open deck sleeves
cp pistons 9:1
Eagle rods
acl bearings
83mm bore
micopolished and balanced crank
gsr head:
port and polish
3 angle valve job
supertech valves
supertech retainers
supertech valve springs
gt35e
full race manifold
precision 1000cc injectors
3 in custom exhaust
If your aiming just to beat a TL then head work is not necessary.
Keep searching, im in the process of building my car and run into alot of questions also.

honestly im a student, i get paid 9$ an hour at my regular part time job, this is my entire savings into this motor so every tiny bit of advice is so helpful. the less likely i am to blow the **** out of my motor the happier i will be.
this is my life savings + my entire summer jobs pay. im living on nothing here to afford this. please any and all help is greatly appreciated!

my advice, if your limit is 8g, and your goals are just to smoke a TL then just do full ls.
my buddy had a ls long block, completly stock that u can pick up for not more than 800 bucks
sc61 turbo, inline pro manifold, 3 in exhaust, got him 300whp daily driven.
that thing killed TL, TSX and m3s

ok so i have decided i will do this in sections if i cant afford it in one big project.
so i will stick with my block work (altho someone messaged me saying a ls block can be bored to a max of 81.5mm?) then why is it everyone keeps saying they did it out to 84mm?
anyways so im going to do this in sections and i guess it will sit in my garage while im doing it

GSR Head
skunk2 stage 2 cams (or should i stay stock?)
Skunk2 valve train (recommended on another thread)
Skunk2 valves
Skunk2 cam gears
is this type of head work only for NA application or is it alright for forced induction?
misc. stuff:
Golden Eagle lsvtec kit
new bearings (honda or aftermarket?)
(i know there needs to be more here but what?)
Fuel injectors anything im missing? i need a list from A-Z for this build up because im going to provide everything and get someone else to build it (since i have no prior experience building motors i figure if im going to invest so much i might as well have it done right?)
and i keep hearing "balance this, balance that" can anyone please elaborate?

you can only go 81.5mm on a stock block but on a golden eagle sleeved block you can go up to 85mm for a turbo block and 87mm for a na block maybe they didn't think you were going to sleeve it but anyway good luck with you project sounds like its going to be lots of fun

Dude not to be buggin but just do the ls build up if your going turbo forget the vtec parts of it. It will be just one more step in your way man and wont produce that much more power. search for ls's on here that went turbo and im sure your going to be way over 250 with 9 grand to spend. build the ls for turbo throw a good turbo kit together and tune the **** out of it and bet you could hit @ least 300hp easy and that'll smoke the TL especially with the qualife and jdm final drive. and yes it will bolt up.
