Default LSVTEC TURBO GUYS!!!! TELL ME YOUR STORIES!!!

im almost done my buget lsvtec build up. pic without t3/t4 on.

dont mind the green block, i did it cuz i was told not to

89 EF
b16a1 head
98 gsr cams
ARP HEAD STUDS
Cometic head gasket
b18a bottom end
9.1 arias pistons
stock rods
t3/to4e .57 turbo
7psi sprung external wastegate to amosphere
Ls cable tranny(no lsd)
vafc and 450dsm's

just a few questions for you guys:

- what can i expect out of this setup? max power etc?
-what management should i go with (buget, do i have to go obd1 to get decent tuning?)
- what does a external wastegate sound like when its vent to atmosphere?? cuz mine is.

also:
what are you lsvtec's like etc. and what experiences/ luck have you guys had with your lsvtec setup.

HT

I made 350 with a shitty intercooler as my only limit on power, I think. My setup rips ***!! I have a LS tranny as well and I am very happy. I would definately go obd1. Do Not go VAFC.

Be patient and wait. You will not regret it. If this is your daily driver then man you are out of luck. VAFC is asking for trouble.... you will not see the full potential.

they both affect timing.... alter fuel enough and you will force the motor into the wrong timing cell. get your 05' *** out of here

well if i get on my other screen name i`ll be telling you to get your 04` *** outta here.... and S-afcs do not alter timing... and neither do V-afcs until you alter vtec...

lol, you got bored and made another sn?

true, as long as the motor is out of vtec then i guess the timing doesnt change much.
i just dont want to risk my 15k dollar motor on a vafc

and i'll just laugh that you wasted $125 on a piece of **** half assed tuning method when I spent $0 on running Uberdata or Crome.

ok i'm going to try to explain why the hack messes with timing. it's not that the afc can change timing as we all know. the hack allows boost on stock ecu by tricking it into never seeing boost, i.e. 10 psi reads as 0 psi. that's fine if your turbo spools instantly, but that simply is not the case. the problem lies in the transition into boost at partial throttle. at, let's say, 5 psi, the afc sends a signal to the ecu for vacuum. well the ecu reads a partial throttle tsp reading and a vacuum map reading as "cruise", therefor jacking up the timing for efficiency. that works on a normally aspirated car, but on a car running the hack, it jacks up the timing when transitioning to boost. that can equal detonation which leads to you know what

i'm sure somebody else can elaborate

so can you tune your car at the stop light ? cause if i wanted to i could.... beside i`m making the arguement of budget, and function...

holy thread jackers!
look i just need a patch to get by for a few months until i can afford to go obd 1.
i might chip the ecu to compensate for the timing advance.

if you're going to chip the ECU, why not spend $50 on some injectors instead of $125 on an AFC and have some real management?

even if you did manage to tune the boost timing by chipping the ECU and running the hack, you still have crap for vacuum maps and half the table resolution of a real boost rom

Pretty much ur only option for OBD 0 is turbo edit.Im not sure if its as powerful as a OBD1 program but definatly alot better than ur VAFC.
I rember my friend tried doing a LS-t on AFC, he only blew 4 LS's in less than a month and a half and Im not joking.

U can make ur own OBD1 conversion if u have some junk ECUS kicking and access to a totaled EG.
After that all u need is ur OBD1 distro and a couple pinouts.
