The new Civic Si dyno chart and comparison.
We just dyno'd the new Civic Si yesterday, and here are the results.

Here is a comparison with an '04 RSX-S.

Both of these cars are stock. Honda has done a better job of programming the new Si's K series, but that VTEC crossover is VERY pronounced to say the least. Still, the car makes great power for stock, and should be easy to extract more from.

Different markets though (from Honda's standpoint.)
I could picture my Dad driving an RSX.
He'd be confused by the new Si.

Yep, I believe they do this on purpose so all the ricers out there get to feel the mAD vTak.
It probably would be much more effective with a VTEC x-over around 5k, but then no one would notice it and that's bad for sales.

The pondering question I have is that who bought all 15 complete SI heads from Honda in the past few weeks? Before American Honda realizes that they were selling it dirt cheap. Before Dec 12, it was retailing for $708.85 or wholesale price of $531.64 (now think about the dealer cost?)#10003-RRB-A00
Yeah it was $460.75 dealer cost...Know honda has a dealer cost of $1088.33...Know thats a jump....i show there might still be a couple heads floating around out there in honda world.

I think those new Si's, they look nice and they make good power.

K20A2 02-04 RSX Type-S
K20Z3 06+ Civic Si
With the old SAE ratings, the 02-04 Type S was rated at 200hp & the 05+ Type S was rated at 210hp.
With the new SAE ratings, the 05+ Type S is rated at 201hp & the 06 Si, which also uses the new SAE rating, is rated at 197hp.
So if we were using the old SAE Ratings right now, would the 06 Si be rated at 206hp???

My father just ordered his 2006 Si on Monday.
On another note, is it just me, or does that VTEC engagement point need moved down a few hundred RPM? I mean, yeah, I suppose Honda designed it that way to make VTEC more of a 'kick,' but I've always been taught that a smooth changeover is considered 'correct' amongst tuners.
It also appears that the power on the low cam seems to be levelling off right before engagement. This looks similar to my father's 2004 S2000. It turned out his factory crossover point was 400 RPM too high straight from the factory.

The only dyno we had was of an '05 RSX with an intake, and it made more power than the new Si. If that new Si had an intake, it might be a different story.

Vtec crossover on my K20 is 4500 and it is very smooth. It looses power if you engage it any further up in the RPM, but that is also with messing with the VTC. They can definitley benefit from being moved down. I think AEMs basemap came with vtec at 3500

There is power in the new Si by leaning it out as well. It's not nearly as rich as the K20A2, but is still warranty safe.
