Default Measured Prelude LMAs vs B16 LMAs

Im going to do the Prelude LMA in my OBD b16 head for my LSV build. I just got my Lude LMAs in today so I went out and did some measuring and this is what I came up with and created some questions.....

Mic'ed my OBD0 B16 LMA: 1.637in in hieght.
Prelude LMA: 1.563in in hieght.
Did the math and thats a .074 in hieght difference.

My question: I read everywhere that we are supposed to use a washer with a thickness of .040in. Now, even though I measured a difference of .074 do I still run a .040 washer? Or do I want to get it as close to the stock LMA hieght as possible. I was thinking maybe the reason why my hieght difference was so much more than .040 was because the old LMA was sprung all the way out?

Another thing....I only measured one OBD0 LMA but I measured 4 of the Prelude LMAs and they were all within a couple thou of 1.563, pretty accurate.

Here are some pics....

Any input is appreciated.

Matt

If you want, you can shim it higher to put more spring pressure on the middle rocker. However, watch out for coil bind with whatever cams you use.

Running the .040" washer will give your LMA more travel. It's fine I run them in my motor and know many others doing the same.

See, I wasnt sure if I shimmed them up to the same height if I would put to much spring pressure on the middle rocker. And I was also concerned about if I didnt shim them high enough then they wouldnt be doing there job at holdin the middle rocker steady.

So....just stick with the .040 shim since it is tried and true?

I did this mod already and if u search u could see the exact things or shim u need

look up creator omniman and u will find it he got me mine like 2 years ago and haven't had issues since

they are easy as hell to remove and install the stock ones are a bitch and suck if u got a JDM swap or a used USDM motor

I did search and I have the link saved. I was just wondering if Im suppoed to still run the .040 shim even though in my case that will not bring the Prelude LMA to the same hieght as the stock LMA.

Wasnt sure if the Prelude LMA was supposed to be the same hieght as the stock LMA.

I have sent more than 20 sets of washers/shims out to H-T members running Prelude LMA's in a B-series head all within .039-.045 and not one person has had a problem to date.
