Default The Honda Civic EP1 Breakdown

Hi guys!

Introduction

The purpose of this post is to list the technical specifications of the 2002-2005 Honda Civic 1.4Is, designated EP1. I will provide pictures, measurements, partnumbers and info as I find it. Ultimately I hope others may use this post to answer their EP1 related questions.

I hope to be able to find out what kind of parts will fit from the EP3 onto this car. Engine, Suspension and Exhaust are the most important things right now.

Please note that this post is WIP, and will be revised and updated frequently! If you have anything to contribute with, please PM me, and I will add it

Personal Review

I bought my 2002 EP1 yesterday, so this review will be based on my 600 KM long ride from Oslo to Bergen in Norway - where I bought to car. The drive took eight hours - on roads from the best highways to the worst mountain roads you can possibly imagine.

When you drive a 1.4 Liter engine, you don't expect miracles from it. It starts, it drives, and gets you from A to B. The EP1 does all that, but in a fun way. The little 1.4 Litre is powerfull for its small size. Being used to driving my Type R and my EG9 (w. TypeR Swap) I know Honda power when I see it. This is far from that, but still, not as bad as I would expect. It is a car buildt to perform well at a low cost - yet I was surpriced at its power.

The most important part for me, knowing that I bought a small car with a small engine, was the cars handling. Norway is a country of diversities, and the roads are no exception. It performed just as expected. It's a totally decent "family" suspension system, leaning a little on the sportier side. It offers good comfort and decent handling for the daily drivers that buy this car. Nothing exceptional about it.

Interior and seating is perfect for me. The only seat I ever sat in with more pleasure was my SRD's in the Integra, and well, lets not go there. Very clean interior, pitch black, and well lit ut displays. It was made to be easy, and they succeeded. The stock HeadUnit was, like expected, crap. It does what it is supposed to do - no more, no less. I won't bother to mention the stock speakers.

Pictures

I will include a bunch of Highres (800x600) pictures as I snap them. I will try to include as detailed pictures as possible, and Add/Remove/Replace as I go.

Cool -- thanks for all the pics, man.

I think I knew that the EP1's motor sat the other way compared to the EP3/Si/CTR, but it was still interesting to see the details.

I'm surprised to see the motor's redline as higher than my Si's A3, too.

Again, good pics.

Why put EP3 Type-R parts on an EP1? Total waste of time and money IMO.

if you understood how expensive cars are in norway you would agree that this is the better road to take.

I know how expensive cars are in that area but I still doubt that it will be cheaper to convert an EP1 to an EP3 than buying a CTR right away.
