Lookee what I did with an A/F gauge! PICS and VID
I've always wanted to mount a digital gauge inside my rear-view to keep a 'stealth' look. Anyway, I saw this on a website (can't remember which) 4 years ago and I've always wanted to do it! Since I had an extra a/f gauge and two hours free time, I decided to chop up my mirror and attempt it.
It took about 2 hours to finish with a razor blade, plastic epoxy, xacto, and my trusty soldering iron. The result is REALLY cool! You can hardly tell there is a gauge in there w/o power and the leds shine bright w/power on.
I was going to make a detailed documentation of the procedure but instead just snapped a few pics and recorded a quick video clip. I apologize for the poor quality of the pics and video. My camera is cheap and I had to edit and compress the video with a weak win video editing software.

Thats clean as hell, but honostly....It would drive me NUTS! I'd see that **** flash out of the corner of my eye and think it was cops or something.
But if you can still drive w/ it...F-in awesome!

Nice job! It might be a good idea to put it in the passenger side vanity mirror so you can flip it up out of the way when it gets on your nerves. Plus your girlfriend can pretend she's in a music video when she uses the mirror.
Do you have a site with a write-up on how to do this?
TIA

I scratched out the mirrored surface from the back of the glass. I used the CF face (pic 1) as a template to draw the led window, then used the xacto to scratch it off.
I suppose I could do a writeup if the demand is there. I just dont have the time right now.
And vtc, SURE! I could make one for a fee! It would work with any LED style gauge or digital display like the intellitronix (I believe thats the brand) gauges. The autometer would be ideal because it has a plastic ring that makes mounting with epoxy a snap.

Wow, I'm very impressed with that. Good job dude.
I'd definitely do that, but I'm too scared to mess anything up. I guess all the parts are cheap in case I do, but I'm scared nonetheless.
Very nice!

Very nice! That's an integra mirror, right? I'm looking for a windshield-mount mirror for my civic so that i can mount my radar detector directly above the mirror

I would LOVE to relocate my J&S dual monitor to the mirror like that...
